Excellence in a Creative Environment for Learning
The Week of September 19th, 2016...
Greetings from DBE! We hope you had another enjoyable three day weekend (at least for students).
Please be mindful to check on your student's progress weekly. You may check your student's progress by logging in as your student, going to Student Organizer -> Progress Reports, or you may request weekly updates by letting the school know via email at ldarnell@k12k.com.
Seniors, Look for exciting opportunities coming up about Tennessee Promise below. Also, every Monday is Gamers Club-- if you enjoy playing games, this club is for you. See Ms. Darnell for more details. If there are items you would like included in this newsletter, please email Mrs. Hensley at shensley@k12k.com.
Teacher Feature: Leah Darnell
Ms. Leah Darnell graduated with her Bachelor's of Art in English from East Tennessee State University. She has worked for Kingsport City as an after school tutor, substitute teacher, GED assistant, and completed an interim at Dobyns-Bennett High School before going on to teach 7th grade for Johnson City Schools for six years. Last year, Leah choose to returned to Kingsport in order to teach high school English.
Leah was selected as a RangeFinder last year on three separate occasions and is grateful for the rare opportunity to work closely with the Tennessee State Board of Education on TNReady testing. She hopes to return this November to continue her work representing DBE in Nashville.
In her spare time, Ms. Darnell enjoys playing kickball, freelancing makeup, or spending time with her friends and family. One of her favorite moments is when she is able to curl up with her dog, Millie.
Ms. Darnell loves working at DBE because of the relationships she is able to build with not only her colleagues, but also, her students. This makes Leah an excellent addition to DBE!
