Project Background
Last spring, JH and HS French as a Second Language teachers gathered from each leadership group to provide input into a plan which addresses improving transitions between divisional levels in the FSL course sequence. From this meeting, a three-year FSL Strategic Plan was developed with a key goal of creating an inventory of linguistic competencies (grammar, vocabulary, situations, etc.) that students are anticipated to acquire by the end of French 30-9Y (French as a Second Language Nine-Year Program of Studies). This inventory will support consistency in expectations of the French as a Second Language Nine-Year Program of Studies (Grade 4 to Grade 12) throughout the District and provide students with the skills needed to attain a B1 French proficiency level.
Description of the project
This project offers FSL teachers from each leadership group the opportunity to collaborate with FSL colleagues, contribute to the District FSL Linguistic Competencies Inventory, and to develop a deeper understanding of the expectations of the French as a Second Language Nine-Year Program of Studies (Grade 4 to Grade 12).
FSL teachers will work together with with French consultants to compare outcomes from the French as a Second Language Nine-Year Program of Studies (Grade 4 to Grade 12) and the Communicative Targets from the French as a Second Language Nine-Year Program Articulation (Grade 4 to Grade 12) with the NEW Eaquals Core Inventory for French.
The comparison and analysis of these documents will result in an inventory of French linguistic structures that will assist with transitions between divisional levels in the FSL course sequence.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to collaborate with your leadership group and catchment area FSL colleagues to support student transitions and success!
