MCES WEEKLY TOP FIVE FOR PARENTS

UPDATES FOR THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 18

A Message from the Admin Team

Greetings Montclair Families,

As we near the end of our first nine weeks of the school year, we would like to keep our families informed about what is happening at our school.

On Monday, October 18, students will observe a Student Holiday. Monday is a day in which students have the opportunity to work on any missing assignments. Please be sure to have access to your child's Canvas, in which students will have access to instructional materials. If you need assistance with this, please get in touch with your child's homeroom teacher. During this time, no teachers will be assigning any new classwork or homework to our students. Teachers will be participating in Professional Development all day, so if you need to contact them, please get in touch with them via email or Classdojo and allow 24 hours for teachers to respond.

Every child enrolled at Montclair Elementary School will receive a federal card on October 19, 2021. For CCs to receive impact Aid basic support funding, the Federal government requires CCS to collect information from parents and guardians after the school year. Parents are expected to fill out this survey and return them to the school. The impact Aid CCS receives is determined by a formula that includes the number of students with a parent or guardian on active duty in the military. This also applies to families that live in Federal low-income housing or on federally owned property; or live with a parent or guardian who works on Federal property.

Next Thursday, October 21, Montclair Elementary School will host our Parent Assessment Night from 5:00-6:00 PM. The purpose of this night is to provided parents with information about the county and state assessments that our students will be taking this school year. Kindergarten and First Grade teams will focus their information on Successmaker, while Second Grade will be presenting information about MClass.Third Grade will talk about Read-To-Achieve, and our Fourth and Fifth Grade Teams will inform parents about the End of Grade assessments. These sessions will be done in 15-minute increments to allow parents to visit each Assessment. Parents, please remember that this is NOT a time to have a Parent-Teacher Conference with your child's homeroom teacher. The administration team will ensure that parents have the opportunity to speak to our teacher at a later date.

On Friday, October 22, Report Cards will go home. Parents will also have access to students' grades through Powerschool. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please reach out to your child's teacher during school hours.

Thank you so much for your time as we look forward to a year and rebuilding, refocusing, and reassuring all stakeholders on being Montclair Strong. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns for administrators, please feel free to email us, use Classdojo or contact us in our Facebook group.
