Hamilton High School Mission Statement
The mission of Hamilton High School is to prepare students to be successful in their academic, personal and professional lives.
Graduation Requirements
The Counseling Department has reviewed with your student how many credits he/she needs for graduation and what classes are still needed. If you have any questions about your student’s credits, please contact your student’s counselor.
Academic Distinction
All CUSD high schools are now using the Cum Laude recognition program. This program will replace the concept of designating a valedictorian and salutatorian at graduation. Under the Cum Laude program more of our academic successful seniors will be recognized.
Three categories are awarded for superior work. This honor is based upon the graduation grade point average.
Cum Laude—meaning “with praise”. To qualify a student must achieve a 3.75-4.24 weighted grade point average.
Magna Cum Laude—meaning “with great praise”. To qualify a student must achieve a 4.25-4.49 weighted grade point average.
Summa Cum Laude—meaning “with the highest praise”. To qualify a student must achieve a 4.5-5.0 weighted grade point average.
National Honor Society
Graduating seniors who are members in good standing in National Honor Society will receive their honor tassels from Dr. Rockwell, NHS Sponsor.

Important College Information!
It is a common misconception that it is reasonable for seniors to take it easy and relax during their senior year. The fact is, it is important for seniors to work hard up until graduation. Attendance and grades matter! Colleges and Universities can and will look at senior year for admittance purposes even after admission acceptance, especially for students who are wait-listed. Universities can uphold or revoke admission based on 12th grade performance. It is important for every senior to attend their classes and get strong grades in order to be set up for optimum post secondary opportunities. Don't let others get ahead of you!

Recommendations & College Applications
Many colleges and scholarships require a letter of recommendation. You should complete the Letter of Recommendation request form and give it to the teachers and/or counselors at least two weeks in advance of the due date. Form can be found on the Hamilton website under College & Career Center and you can also contact your counselor to obtain a form. You may pick up this form in the College & Career Center or on the website. Students considering any of our state universities SHOULD apply as soon as possible to be considered for priority scholarships, admittance and housing.
