The Greendell Gosling Flyer-16th Ed
December 2, 2020
Dear Greendell Families,
I hope your family had a restful break together. It was so nice to spend some time with my family without everyone being on a different online class. Like many families, we also found other ways to connect with our extended family and friends. Families were using Zoom to have Thanksgiving dinner together, playing games together online, reading familiar children's stories over video chat, and meeting outside at a safe distance. It is definitely not the same but I have enjoyed seeing and talking to relatives that we would rarely see otherwise.
The children were so glad to be back into their school routine this week and maybe a little sleepy from getting up early again (or is it just the adults who are tired?). As we head into winter, I am already seeing so much growth in our students. They are adapting to a very different school environment, whether they are online or in person, and yet they are making great progress!
We have only two and half weeks left of school this year and then we will be in 2021! It seems like we just started our school year a couple of weeks ago. I am looking forward to all the wonderful moments and learning experiences still to come!
Warmest Regards,
Principal Shannon

Supporting Learning at Home: Affective Factors that Impact Learning
The PAUSD website, Supporting Learning at Home, includes resources that explore the connections between emotions and readiness to learn. Parents and teachers intrinsically know the importance of addressing emotions in order to set the stage for learning. When students feel known and appreciated, they can learn more effectively. This module explores this connection and suggests ways of addressing distance and hybrid learning challenges such as using conversation starters and parent-teacher partnerships. Check out the “Affective Factors that Impact Learning” to learn more.
Registration Reminder for New Student Enrollments
Please note: All current Greendell students do not need to reenroll for Kindergarten. Registration is for new students only. Current Greendell families need only complete the Annual Data Update in May.
