English: The rough drafts are almost finished. A few more paragraphs and we will move on to the final drafts!
Science: This week the fourth graders are presenting their keynotes projects to third grade classes. They will also be giving out sea creature trading cards that they made on the computers. I am so proud of how hard they have worked on this extensive project!
Reading: We are more than halfway through Island of the Blue Dolphins now. Karana is living alone on the island but now has a adopted one of the wild dogs as her pet. Ask your fourth grader about the devilfish!
Social Studies: California History Project: Update for Parents
This week I will be checking in with the kids regarding progress on creative projects. The children will be working on finishing up rough drafts and beginning final drafts in both social studies and English classes. If you run into any questions, please have your child write down the question to ask in class the next day. More exciting news--your kiddos have begun brainstorming ideas for 3D printing in technology class! Ask your child about his/her ideas.
Spelling/Writing: Lesson 25 words; test on Friday, May 20th. You can find a printable copy of the list on the 4th grade page of the MJS website.

The End of the Easter Season
This Sunday brings the celebration of the Easter Season to a close. Pentecost is the celebration of the Holy Spirit coming to the Apostles. The Spirit gave them courage to go out and proclaim the word of God. The Holy Spirit can give us courage, too, when we need it.
