Great Leaders of Ancient China
Who were they? Why were they important?
There were many great leaders of Ancient China. One of them is Confucius. Confucius was a very respected leader and teacher in China. Another great leader in China was Emperor Wudi, of the Han times. Wudi agreed on Confucius's beliefs of education. One last great leader was the ruler of the T'ang times. These various rulers were not named but brought China into their Golden Age. These are just a few of the many great leaders of Ancient China.
One great leader from Ancient China is Confucius. He was one of the greatest leaders of Ancient China. When he was about 15 years old he became very interested in learning. During his time only the nobility and royals could receive an education which made it hard for him to learn. To solve his problem, Confucius decides to go and work for a nobleman. He learned and studied so much that he was one of the smartest men of his time. Everybody started to hear about his knowledge so they sent their sons to study with him. Confucius became the first private teacher of China. His ideas were called Confucianism and they stressed that people need to develop responsibility and moral character through rigid rules of behavior. Confucius was a very well respected and a great leader of Ancient China.
Another great leader from Ancient China was Emperor Wudi. Emperor Wudi was one of the leaders in the Han Dynasty. He agreed with Confucius that education played a big part in having a good government. So Wudi started a system of public, all boys schools with Confucian teachers. Emperor Wudi also made a Grand School, which was located in the capital. At first, only 50 people were allowed to study at the Grand School, but soon after about 30,000 students were enrolled there. Emperor Wudi also expanded China by conquering other nations, like Vietnam, Korea, and Manchuria. He used the natural resources from these places to build China's wealth. Emperor Wudi then built a monopoly on silk, salt, and iron. As you can see, Emperor Wudi became a very well-known and great leader of Ancient China.
Rulers of the T'ang Dynasty
The emperors of the T'ang times, who are not named, were some of the greatest leaders of Ancient China. They brought China into it's Golden Age. The T'ang Empire was very famous for their wonderful stories, music, dancing, and art. Many dancers and singers from Korea and India went to China to study dancing and singing. Scroll painting also became very popular. There were three main religions in the T'ang Empire, Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism. They were called The Three Doctrines. Another big part of religion for the Chinese was honoring ancestors and gods. The leaders of the T'ang Empire were some of the most greatest leaders in Ancient China.
Ancient China is known for some pretty great people. One of the many was Emperor Wudi. He was one of the rulers in the Han Empire. Another one is Confucius. He believed that you develop responsibility and moral character through rigid rules of behavior. One last one is the emperors of the T'ang Empire. They are not named but they brought Ancient China into it's Golden Age. In conclusion, Ancient China had many influential and great leaders.
