Principal's Note
Hi Families:
Family teacher conferences are coming quickly! Teachers will stay late on both November 19th and November 23rd for face to face Whittier students. Virtual students will have a conference as well, and your teacher will be reaching out/or perhaps already has! Conferences are required for all students. We have set a goal for 100% of students to be scheduled for a conference by or before November 6th. Sign ups for all have begun via ClassDojo. If you are not connected to ClassDojo please call the office 262-970-2800 to sign up for a conference and to connect to ClassDojo for further communication.
Finally, virtual families - please complete survey sent to you asap. This survey will indicate your choice for how your child will engage in learning starting Trimester 2 on Monday, November 30th. If you need a student ID to help you fill it out, email me and I can help (bmhart@waukesha.k12.wi.us). We need 100% of virtual families to complete the survey as soon as you receive it or by Oct. 28th at the latest. We will be reaching out to provide support early next week if we haven't heard from you.
Upcoming dates (NEXT WEEK!) to be aware of for childcare planning for face to face learners:
- Wed. October 28th - Early release. Student day ends at 1:40pm
- Thurs. October 29th - No school for students - staff work day. We will be engaging in learning around culturally responsive practices, technology development, and discussion around data and school improvement.
- Fri. October 30th - No school for students or staff
We are here to be your partner in eduction and we are honored to work with YOU and your children everyday!

What happens if my child is sent home on a 10-14 day quarantine?
If your child goes home for quarantine, they will now receive a schedule that will outline when they can livestream mini-lessons that happen in the classroom. If your child is home, we'd love to keep the learning happening by giving you the opportunity to tune in to mini lessons and small group lessons.
What does that look like?
Look at the picture below, you can see Mrs. Greger, a 4th grade teacher instructing both with face to face learners as well as students live streaming in from the ipad. This is important for students in quarantine that are well to join in each time a mini lesson is live. This will prevent any missed learning opportunities from happening.

Monthly Characteristic!
The picture shows a book all of our classrooms will be reading sometime this month! This funny story celebrates our need to learn to focus...even when we are excited!
See what ways you can talk about how you have to show FOCUS at work or home!
Birthday Treats
If you are planning to send a birthday treat with your son or daughter, please consider this as we will be unable to serve anything that is not so packaged by a store and individually wrapped. Please ask if you have questions or concerns.
