Bear Bulletin
Maire Newsletter April 15th edition
Dear Maire Families
We are so excited for community events to return to Maire in the upcoming weeks. What makes Maire truly special is the connections we have as a community, and getting back to more normal times is exciting for everyone.
One of those events is our big Parent Auction which happens every three years (although it has been longer due to Covid). This event historically has been a way to raise money for Maire to fund special larger projects. Each year our Fun Run raises enough money to run the PTO budget for the year and provide resources for some smaller projects. Our big project this year is creating an outdoor “community hub.” This covered picnic area, which will be on the Maire blacktop near the playground, will serve many purposes, but all of them involve coming together. Classes will be able to be outside to extend learning beyond our walls. It will provide a shaded space for students to come together to relax and connect during recess. After school hours and over the summer, it will provide a community gathering spot where kids can play on the playground and families can socialize with each other.
In late May we will have our Field Day. Our entire school will enjoy being outside doing a variety of fun activities and games. We rely on parent support to run stations, so stay tuned for more information on volunteering.
Class picnics in the final weeks of school are another highlight of the year that we’ve missed out on lately, but are coming back. Each grade has an end of the year celebration. Leaving school and heading to a park is certainly a highlight for our kids, but parents and staff enjoy being out at this fun event as well.
There are even more events coming up that will bring us together. We look forward to each one as we finish out this year building and celebrating our great community!
Sincerely,
Ryan Francis
Proud Principal of Maire
