Week at a Glance

Reading- We finished Frindle this week, and students are excited to begin a new read aloud. For the remainder of the week we have been reading Martin Luther King Jr. biographies and discussing the impact he had on the world. Today students used iPads to create a trading card for MLK jr. showing his impact and importance.

Math- Unit 4 has been full of hands on activities. We've explored the measurement of mass and liquid volume.

Writing- We selected one of our seed stories to turn into a publication. We've talked a lot about word choice and how an author paints a picture for his/her reader.

Science- This week we continued our investigation of lights. We created a complete circuit and discovered that energy flows in a loop. We also discovered that a lights, sound, and heat tell us that energy is present.

Important News

Dear Wonderful Families,

As many of you know, I have been battling an achilles injury for most of the school year. While I have done all I can to avoid surgery, it is unavoidable at this point. I will be having surgery on February 8th and will be out on medical leave for 3 weeks, returning to the classroom on March 4th.

While I am saddened to be out of the classroom, I am excited that Mrs. Smith has asked Bailey Cleary to fill in for me. Miss Cleary has been a substitute at the Primary School this school year and has filled in for me twice before. The students love her and I am confident they will have an enjoyable experience while I am healing.

I appreciate all of the support and well wishes I have received from you throughout the school year. Please reach out with any questions or concerns you may have. Please know that your children will be in great hands with Miss Cleary.
