Library Update

OBOB….Oregon Battle of the Books is on the horizon. We have the books for students to check out in the library. These books are available online as ebooks. Access ebooks via the student PPS App page, select the SORA icon, scroll down through the “collections” until you see OBOB 2023-24 Grades 6-8. As always, utilize our Multnomah County Public Library.

Parents! Volunteers are needed to make OBOB happen! We need parents to help lead/coach students for OBOB competitions. Small teams meet at homes of teammates after school and or on the weekends. The Kellogg team that wins at our school level will compete regionally in March of 2024.

The district policy to volunteer is to complete the background check at this link: https://www.pps.net/domain/66

Please contact Jayne Morgan, library assistant, at Kellogg to volunteer. Her email is jsmith4@pps.net

Many students are looking forward to this and have already begun reading OBOB books. Thank you parents!

Counseling Corner

Counselors have been pushing into classes and delivering our intro lesson. Our lesson gives students foundational information about how to make an appointment with their school counselor, what school counselors do, and confidentiality. In addition the lesson introduces other building support staff.

Kellogg Family and Student Guide - Highlight

Every week we will highlight a different section of the guidebook so you get familiar with the content/expectations that are shared with our families.

Basketball and Sports Equipment

Basketballs and other athletic equipment (soccer balls, footballs, etc) should be left in the bins inside the front doors. There is a bin for each grade. Students can grab their ball from the bin during lunch. Balls and other equipment should never be out in the hallways or classrooms. If they are in the hallways or class they will be taken to the office by staff. Please put your name on your ball.
