KINGDOM MEN WOODLAND

January 2016

It's the little things...

I sit here at the desk putting together this (over due) newsletter, and ponder the reason it is overdue.

The answer is simple, I do not like to do this task.

So, why do it?

Why do any of us do some of things that we do not like to do?

Because, to grow as man sometimes we need to do the task that we do not want to do to help us grow.

Does this newsletter have to be done? No. Could I pawn it of on someone else? Yep.

(Hey, I understand that you love to do things like this and you don't see how it could be a difficult project. Me, not so much.)

We all have task that we find unappealing but we do them anyways. We do them so we may learn to preserver, to challenge ourselves at our work and in our lives.

With it we gain confidence and wisdom, build strength and resolve for next difficult task we my face or be asked to accomplish.

The same can be said in our Christian life. God will ask us to do task that we prefer not to do. Or feel there has to be someone more qualified than our self. But to grow as a child of God, we also need to accept those assignments, with the reassurance that God will be with us and He will not give us more than we can handle.

Matthew 25:21 (NIV)

21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

"Just Walk Across the Room" by Bill Hybels (4 week study)

What if you knew that by taking ten steps across a room and saying hello to another person, you could impact his or her eternity? It has nothing to do with methods and everything to do with taking a genuine interest in another human being.

"Just Walk Across the Room" is a natural and empowering approach to evangelism modeled after Jesus himself. This dynamic four-week experience will equip and inspire you to follow his lead by taking simple walks across rooms to extend care, compassion, and inclusiveness to people who might need a touch of God's love today.

When Nobody is Looking

The Ashley Madison website hack has served to bring to light the tragic possibilities when we dabble in darkness. Recently, a New Orleans pastor and seminary professor took his own life after his name appeared on the list with tens of millions of others. He left behind his wife and two children. In a final note, he spoke of his depression, his name on that list, and how he was sorry. It’s sorrowful to imagine the mental strain he was under. His family, coworkers, and friends all exclaimed that he was a loving, forgiving man. Yet somehow he couldn’t extend that to himself. We tempt losing everything when we make the dangerous to pursue dangerous things in secrecy. If we are doing things that we wouldn’t share with those closest to us, we are in a precarious place.
