Car Rider Arrival & Dismissal Reminders

Arrival and Dismissal procedures for Carline (and school) are paramount in our operation. Please be reminded:

ARRIVAL

  • School Doors officially open at 8:45 AM.
  • PLEASE have car-riders REMAIN in vehicles until staff is in place at 8:45 AM.
  • Walkers will be assembling under the canopy by the front doors, but we request car-riders remain in vehicles so traffic is not moving while children are walking to school.
  • We will have a crosswalk attendee supporting student walker arrival and traffic flow.
  • Please keep your eyes open for student walkers and adhere to speed limit postings.

DISMISSAL

  • Car-Rider dismissal will again take place from our Gym Atrium Doors.
  • Parents remain in vehicles at all times; a staff member will call the student to meet the vehicle in our pull-around spaces.
  • A placard will be provided to each family on the first day - please fill-out and place on dashboard for quicker processing in the year.

With the start of the new year, timing will continue to improve - new routines for students and personnel takes time. There was a dramatic improvement in timing from day one to day two - Thank you Families! Soon, our dismissal procedures will be efficient and familiar - we just ask (kindly) for your understanding and patience.

Absence Reporting Update - Families

In 21-22, the Central Bucks School District adjusted the way in which absences are reported. The system is continuing this year - please follow these protocols:

Key Points:

  • Parents and guardians are able to submit absence requests via the Parent Portal. Parents can request a full day absence, early dismissal, or late arrival.
  • Absence requests will be reviewed by school attendance staff and approved or denied.
  • Requests made using the parent portal will also serve as the excuse for the absence. Parents will not be required to submit an excuse either electronic or written if on the portal.
  • Parents and guardians may also still call or email the school to report an absence.

In addition, when a student is absent from school, but the school did not receive communication from the parent or guardian, the following communication will be sent:

    • A text message will be sent 10:30 AM notifying the parent or guardian of the absence.
    • An email will also be sent at the same time reminding the parent or guardian that the student was marked absent.
    • If the written notification is sent in error, please contact the school 267-893-4250 to resolve the conflict.

Please Note: Butler_Attendance is NO LONGER an option for reporting absences. Please email the teacher and the Attendance Secretary (Michele Droxler) mdroxler@cbsd.org.

Information regarding how to use the Parent Portal to report an absence can be found here.

Central Bucks Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)

Butler has a team of professional staff (including student counselors, special education, gifted education, psychologist, reading specialists and every classroom teacher) who are a part of our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) - meeting regularly to discuss instructional practices and individual student needs. The team reviews students’ progress and suggests strategies for support of students' academic, behavioral, or social needs. This system occurs district-wide and takes place in every CB school. Our Central Bucks “Guidance” Department will now be known as “Student Services” Department. While we certainly provide “guidance” to students, our School Counselors, School Psychologists, Student Support Social Workers, Student Support Counselors, and Nurses provide services including academic planning; college and career planning; social and emotional programs and initiatives; physical wellness; connections to community resources (financial, housing, food, services); and educational record management. We look forward to seeing students and families in our Student Services Office!

      School Happenings

Butler Elementary Town Hall Meeting Highlights!

The Butler staff has so many important events and plans in making this year as special as ever. In order to make this year among the best ever, our teachers and support staff have been working diligently on reintroducing the students to the Butler Paw Power Program - highlighting our school attributes: Understanding, Teamwork, Leadership, Educational Excellence, and Respect! Together, these practices help our students make Butler at its Best! Our students joined at our Town Hall Meeting to review our standards and expectations - as we work hard to help all of our Butler Bears shine!

New Families School Tour and Student Social

Our Butler 6th Grade Student Ambassadors led our newest Butler families on a tour of our school - introducing them to the building that their students will call "home" hopefully for many years! Students identified the various rooms and levels of our school, sharing some of their favorite reasons why they love being Butler Bears! Mr. Funseth launched the event with an introduction and welcome while the PTO Cabinet shared all of the important events we hold within our community. At the end, families met the teams of teachers across all grade levels prior to the start of school - looking forward to the 22-23 school year!

      Kindergarten Back to School Night

Our Kindergarten Students and families joined the Butler Teachers and Staff for a welcome to Kindergarten Event on Thursday, August 25th. As students were learning about the bus and safe riding behaviors, parents held their Back to School Meeting with the teachers and staff. Our teachers introduced themselves and provided lots of information and details about a successful Kindergarten year. We look forward to all the learning that will be taking place with Mrs. Camburn, Mrs. Nieves, Miss Abert, and Miss Taylor this year!

      CBSD Kindergarten Transportation Orientation

There is always a buzz in the air when our Kindergarteners get to visit Butler School! This was certainly the case on Thursday, August 25th, when our new youngest students held a special bus orientation with the Central Bucks Transportation Department and story time with the Principals. Students learned all about the safety rules for riding the bus and how important it is to "Stay Seated" "Talk Quietly" and "Face Forward" for the bus drivers. After the fun bus ride around the neighborhood with the help of our Butler Ambassadors, the children received story time from Mr. Funseth and Dr. Doherty. It was a great introduction to our school and we hope it helped ease their anticipation on the first day of class!

Butler Community "Chalks the Walk" for our Teachers and Staff

Thanks to the Butler Community who (not only) chalked welcome messages once, but came back TWICE following the rain over the weekend prior to the first day of school! Some beautiful art and kind-hearted words helped to add to the excitement to the day!

Butler - First Fire Drill of the Year

The first week is a time where learning (relearning) school protocols and procedures is important for the structure for those planned and unplanned times of the school year. This includes our standards for safety and security within our Emergency Planning Procedures. Each month of the year, Butler will hold fire drills to practice to automaticity - highlighting silent, quick exits of the building if ever in a real emergency. On Wednesday, August 31st, we held our first fire drill of the year with over 830+ children having cleared the building in just over 2-minutes. That's incredible - Great Job Bears!

Butler Teachers Travel to Fluxspace - for Opening Day Professional Development!

Butler Principals, Mr. Funseth and Dr. Doherty, took a "field trip" with teachers on Tuesday, August 23rd to Fluxspace - an educational facility that promotes team explorations and collaboration - all at their amazing location! To begin their morning, our teachers learned about new district initiatives and other year-long explorations. Then had time to explore the building's many themed rooms. To end our day, teachers collaborated within teams building parachutes, structures, and circuits - connecting to our curriculum in unique and interesting ways. Many of the activities can be duplicated with students - and teachers may have an opportunity to bring their own classrooms to Flux for team building exercises! It was a great day reconnecting with our Butler Staff! Thank you to director Ryne Andrews and the staff at Fluxspace for hosting our teachers!
