December Newsletter: December 3, 2023
Dear Boulder Creek Families,
It’s December, and we all find ourselves fully involved in the holiday season. Christmas is right around the corner, and our students are working hard to keep their minds on their academics as we enter the busy few weeks before their next break.
The month of December brings to Boulder Creek a new character focus of generosity, and giving. Generosity is a quality that's a lot like unselfishness. Someone showing generosity is happy to give time, money, food, or kindness to people in need. When you show generosity, you might give away things or money or put others before yourself.
Acts of generosity, such as giving your time, talent, or resources, and expecting nothing in return, have been proven to be good for our health. Generous individuals are personally more fulfilled, happier, and more peaceful within themselves, not to mention more productive at home and in the workplace. In fact, as reported by a recent study by the University of California, generous individuals live longer, healthier lives.
The traits of giving and generosity are being focused upon daily with students throughout the month of December.
Our incredible staff will be supporting our students throughout this holiday season. Our teachers will creatively bring engaging wintertime activities and positivity to our students. On behalf of all of us at Boulder Creek, we wish all of our families a wonderful holiday season. Once we make it to Christmas Break, we will look forward to seeing you all again in person on Tuesday, January 9th!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
DECEMBER FOCUS: Giving/Generosity
At Boulder Creek, we reinforce all positive character traits. Each month of the year, we shine the spotlight on a specific trait. In December we will focus on Giving and Generosity. Join us by reinforcing giving/generosity at home!
ANOTHER ATTENDANCE CHALLENGE!
Did you know that after November 1st, the day after Halloween, the day before Christmas Break had the second highest rate of absenteeism last year? We are challenging our students to maintain high attendance rates between Thanksgiving and Christmas Breaks and that everyone is here for some special learning and events on December 21st (minimum day), the last day before our two-week break.
Parents, help us encourage your children to finish 2023 with the same excitement we carried into the beginning of the year! Help your child by prioritizing good rest, holding to homework routines, and coming to school every day ready to learn. The break is coming, but until then, every day counts for learning!

THE HOLIDAY BOUTIQUE - Dec. 11th-15th
This holiday tradition spans over 25 years at Boulder Creek. Our K-5 students have the opportunity to go shopping for their own family members in the boutique set up at Boulder Creek. They are assisted with gift wrapping as well. The kids love it, and it promotes positive feelings toward giving to others. Please sign up HERE if you are willing to help set up, help students shop, and wrap gifts.
The Parent Club is asking for donations of paper bags for the Holiday Boutique. Paper bags are needed in all sizes for students to wrap gifts in. The paper bags can be dropped off in the office. Thank you in advance for the donations.
