Dear PPfT Appraisal Teachers,
January's PPfT Appraisal Newsletter includes information regarding the PPfT Appraisal and will cover the following topics:

Professional Growth and Responsibilities
Details and Deadlines:
- March 29, 2018 – Professional Growth and Responsibilities shared with teachers
- April 13, 2018 – Professional Growth and Responsibilities must be finalized in HCP
The second component of the appraisal is Professional Growth and Responsibilities. This piece of the PPfT Appraisal provides a system that concentrates on teacher growth and collaboration (Growth) while acknowledging compliance activities (Responsibilities).
Professional Growth and Responsibilities accounts for 25% of your overall appraisal score, and includes a rubric that encompasses five strands associated to professionalism:
- Strand 1: Professional Development and Reflection
- Strand 2: Collaboration and Contributions
- Strand 3: Lesson Planning and Data Use
- Strand 4: Relational Communication
- Strand 5: Compliance
Resources:
- Pages 15-21 in the PPfT Support Guide focus on Professional Growth and Responsibilities and include sources of evidence for each strand.
- PPfT Professional Growth and Responsibilities Rubric
- Please check with your appraiser on how he/she would like to receive information you want to share about any of the strands.
Professional Growth and Responsibilities Mid-Year Review:
PPfT Appraisal Online Training for Teachers: Professional Growth and Responsibilities Mid Year Review 2017-2018 (section #86997) will review related tools and resources to assist you throughout the school year, scoring and expectations and sources of evidence and/or artifacts appraisers will review to assign a score.
Registration begins on February 7, 2018. Register in the HCP.
Instructional Practice
Reminders and Deadlines:
- January 8 – April 20, 2018- Spring Window for Announced Observations
- January 8, 2018- April 27, 2018- Spring Window for Classroom Visits
One specific area that PPfT aims to focus on is how to help teachers improve their instructional practice to benefit the students in the classroom. Observation feedback and scores should be shared with you within 10 school days, and a post conference is required after your spring announced observation is shared with you.

Teaching and Progress Monitoring:
SLOs Reminders and Deadlines:
New-Teacher Hire Cutoff:
- January 12, 2018 - All teachers hired by this date must complete and submit 1 SLO
- New teachers have 20 working days to submit SLO
- Contact SLO team with further questions regarding new teachers (or teachers returning from leave)
Spring Semester SLOs:
- January 4 – February 2- Spring semester pre-assessment window open
- January 12, 2018 - New hire/reassignment cutoff date
- January 30, 2018- Spring semester student enrollment cutoff date
- February 2, 2018 - Complete spring semester SLO submission form and submit with pre-test scores for appraiser validation in the online database
Post-Assessment Window:
- March - April - Year-long SLO post-assessment window open
Final Teacher SLO Submission Deadline:
- April 20, 2018 - All spring semester and year-long SLO teachers must enter post-test scores on roster and complete all fields on SLO verification form
- April 27, 2018 - Appraisers verify SLOs
