Keep Calm and STEAM on!

So many great STEAM activities have been taking place this week. First grade was coding DASH robots in the library and third grade STEAM Lab consisted of ecosystems complete with snails, fish, crickets and live plants-talk about excitement! All the while BAW assessments are taking place which shows the JBD teachers have the skills to turn up the volume of engagement and authentic learning, yet bring it down to the nitty- gritty focus of assessment and demonstration of knowledge acquisition.

Thank you for all you are doing to keep the children on task and engaged. Staying fit is key, this week I observed PE doing stations with weights, bands, planks, wall push ups, hopping, and rotating, all while awesome music kept the pace going. It looked like a great way for the staff to get fit and have fun together-team builder(?)...it just may happen one day!

Distinguished Visitors on Thursday, Dec. 17-FYI

Delegate Jason Myares will be visiting JBD on Thurs. 12/17 in the morning, accompanied by Ms. Carolyn Rye from our School Board and Mr. Sean Walker, Director of Elementary Education. We will be touring and visiting classrooms. Please let me know if you have something really exciting to see and we will be sure to stop by. He also plans on having lunch with his daughter who is in Mrs. Thomson's first grade class. He also has a third grader in Mr. McArdle's class, but the plans are for him to dine with the first grader.
