COVID-19 Safety Measures and Communication
If any information arises that lends itself to clarification about Coolidge specifically, I will be sure to reach out to you directly. At this time, we are keeping to our school routines, the custodians are working hard to keep the building clean, and we are encouraging students to practice clean habits (hand washing, no high fives, sneezing into a tissue or sleeve, etc.). We know there is anxiety around this for some students (and adults!) so are also trying to maintain a sense of calm for our students.
As this develops, any updates will be provided by Dr. Doherty, and as mentioned, I will reach out if anything is building specific. Please don't hesitate to reach out at any time with any questions or concerns.

School Council Updates: Student Survey Assessment
This past week, the group met and completed a protocol as we looked at the results of a student survey that was given at the end of January. The purpose of the survey was to evaluate how students are feeling at school, how we are doing with our goals regarding students feeling connected to an adult, and what causes students stress.
The results of the survey show the students are feeling more connected relative to last year to their Advisory teacher, which is a goal of our Advisory program. Feelings of connectedness go down from 6 to 7 to 8th grade, which is a trend we see every year, but is data that we still think about and analyze. Students across the three grades name "homework and grades" as a top stressor.
This data is being disseminated (via the same protocol) at the building leadership level, the team level, and the School Council level. The leadership team will combine all of the data from these cohorts and will determine the next steps. For example, it seems both staff and our School Council parents feel as if we need to learn more about what, exactly, causes stress as it relates to homework and grades, and why, and whether it's an unhealthy amount of stress or a "normal" amount of stress.
We will keep you posted on our work around the survey!
