Christmas
Meri Kirihimete ( Merry Christmas )
In New Zealand they celebrate christmas in the summer. Instead of snow and sleighing they got to the beach, swim, and have barbecues. They also do a mid-day meal where the whole family cooks a meal and eat it together.
Kiwi Christmas card
They take an ancient tattoo or sign draw it on a card and send it to there loved ones, friends, neighbors or anyone they care about. Some things that they use are tattooed Maori figures, Kiwi, Tiki and Ferns
Santas parade
Santas parade is celebrated in mid November. People from all over the city gather around and celebrate christmas. Floats , dances and music are also at the parade.
Boxing Day
Boxing day is celebrated the day after christmas. Many people spend the day relaxing, hanging with friends, family, going to the beach, even barbecues.
Pohutukawa
The tree above is what they use instead of a christmas tree. Instead of getting to cut down a snowy tree they go find a Pohutukawa.
