Dear Robert Hunter families,
We had another great week at Robert Hunter with students engaged in learning and becoming more independent with school routines. A highlight of the week was our first whole school meeting, where all Robert Hunter students and staff gathered together for the first time. We celebrated being a community and discussed expectations for our meetings. Each month, we will come together for a whole school meeting, and students will have an opportunity to lead these meetings.
Another highlight was getting our Service Corp program started. 4th graders have an opportunity to become Service Corp leaders throughout the course of the year. Service Corp students will also be leading daily video morning announcements, so that all Robert Hunter students get to know the 4th grade leaders who they will see in the hallways and buses helping to ensure everyone is safe and following school expectations.
Save the date! Back to School Night is coming up on Sept. 29th. We will send specific details with times in an email this upcoming week.
Also, please note that there is no school on Sept. 26th for Rosh Hashanah.
Warm regards,
Jessica Braynor and Lindsay Shirvanian

Snapshot of Week 2
An Introduction from Mrs. Shirvanian
Dear Robert Hunter Students and Families,
It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the Interim Vice Principal of Robert Hunter Elementary School. I am very grateful and excited for the opportunity to join the Robert Hunter Community! I look forward to working with the Acting Principal, Mrs. Braynor, and the entire staff in order to provide students and families with an exceptional educational experience. Together, we will continue to celebrate student diversity and advocate for student success.
Prior to joining the Robert Hunter family, I was a teacher at Francis A. Desmares in the Flemington Raritan School District. I started my career in 2006 as a first grade teacher and then went on to become a Reading Recovery and literacy support teacher in 2011. The Flemington Raritan School District holds a special place in my heart and I am elated to be able to serve the district in this new capacity.
On a more personal note, my husband, Dan, and I enjoy spending time with our 7 year old son, Liam. We love beach days, playing with our dog, Pugsley, and family movie nights. My husband is also an educator and we value the importance of education both at home and at school.
I am committed to working alongside Mrs. Braynor as we provide leadership and work to build collaborative relationships in our school and our community so that all students can succeed. I look forward to meeting our Robert Hunter community and beginning our work together!
Sincerely,
Lindsay Shirvanain
Interim Vice Principal of Robert Hunter Elementary School
Security
Our children’s safety is our number one priority. We will have a security drill every month to practice response protocols to different scenarios. We will always send a notice after a security drill has occurred, so that you are aware and can have conversations with your children. Please know that our staff have developmentally responsive conversations with their students. Also, our school counselors are available should you have any questions about how to talk to your students about safety. Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Our School Counselors are:
Mrs. Fontanez: Sarah.fontanez@frsd.us
Mrs. Severino: Susan.severino@frsd.us
Car line notes
Please review the following notes regarding parent drop off and pick-up to ensure a safe and orderly process:
There is NO passing, unless a staff member directs you otherwise.
Drop off students only once you have passed the cones on the sidewalk. Do not let children out before the cones.
Pick-up and drop-off MUST be on the curbside of the car. No child should be walking around the car and into the street to enter the car.
Parents MUST stay in the vehicle at drop-off. Please unbuckle children from within the car.
At parent pick-up, if you must buckle your child, allow him/her to enter the car from the curb, then wait until the carline moves forward. Pull to the end of the curb and put on your hazards. Then, if necessary, you may exit the vehicle to buckle your child.
