Principal's Message
Another week in and we are still going strong! Lincoln students and staff are doing an A+ job mastering remote learning, and administration is making headway with plans to wrap up the school year safely and efficiently. I want to thank students and parents (and Lincoln support staff) for their cooperation during our locker clean out week. Everything seemed to go smoothly. Please watch for future instruction in the weeks ahead for Chromebook drop off, textbook drop off, yearbook pick up and much more.
Mr. Suminski
YOUR PTO - WE HOPE YOU WILL PARTICIPATE - AN ACTIVITY FOR GRADES 6, 7, AND 8!
Photos, Please! Let’s Show our Lincoln Teachers and Staff Some Love
The Lincoln PTO will be putting together a slide show for school teachers and staff letting them know we miss them and appreciate all they do for students and families, especially during this challenging time.
Please participate by sending a photo (or photos if you’d like to submit more than one) of your family or Lincoln student holding a sign with a note of thanks or encouragement, sharing what your student misses about being at school, and/or a shout out to a specific individual. This is meant to be easy, heartfelt and fun. The more photos received the better.
Photos should be sent by the end of day on Friday, May 8 to Nicole Sasanuma at goldenivy@hotmail.com. Questions can be sent to Nicole at the same email address.
LINCOLN PTO . . . TO THE CLASS OF 2020
The PTO Congratulates the Lincoln Middle School 2020 Graduates
We know this is a unique time with many challenges, but we want you to know how proud we are of your accomplishments and wish you all the best as you graduate from Lincoln and head on to your high school journey.
The Lincoln PTO 8th Grade Activities committee has come up with some fun and unique ideas to celebrate your graduation. Through these experiences we hope our students will make some very, special memories.
Here is the list of events that the PTO is sponsoring … (any additional items that are still being discussed will be shared if and/or when decisions are made – some depend on what the school plans to do).
Baby Picture Video – We are collecting your student’s baby picture and special memory of Lincoln that we will use to create a video to share with the LMS community. If you would like your child to participate, please fill out as much of the information on this Google Form as you'd like and submit by May 4. First names and last initials will be published. Note: your child will need to be present to fill in some of the information, but we are sending the form to parents so you can keep the baby picture a surprise, if you'd like. :) Thank you!
Lincoln Class of 2020 yard sign - The PTO is purchasing a “Class of 2020” yard sign for each student. This sign will help decorate your yard and show the community how proud we are of our graduates! Details for distribution of the yard sign will be forthcoming.
Special Commemorative Gift - The PTO has purchased a special commemorative gift for each graduate to mark their middle school graduation and celebrate their journey on to high school. We are working with the school to distribute this gift and will do so in conjunction with other 8th grade “turn in” processes. More details to come.
More plan details will be coming soon. Please watch the weekly newsletter for updates. Please contact either Robyn McCluskey (gmcclusk@aol.com) or Laura Matuszak (matuszak.laura@gmail.com) with questions. Take care and stay healthy! - Your 8th Grade Activities Committee
Optional graduate t-shirt not funded by the PTO
The PTO has spoken with a vendor and negotiated a 2020 Graduate t-shirt for parents to purchase directly on the vendor’s website. The t-shirt is offered by Sports Emporium. Parents can view the t-shirt and purchase it from the vendor’s website here https://www.sportsemporium.net/lincoln-middle-school. Parents can order directly from the vendor if they are interested. The PTO is not funding the t-shirt. Families can either have the t-shirt shipped to them directly, or participate in a bulk pickup option where the Lincoln PTO will pick up the shirts purchased from the vendor and distribute in a time and manner to be determined.
Lincoln School Nurse, Mrs Smith . . . FACE MASKS
How to properly wear a face mask:
You should be wearing a face mask if you are going to be out in the community near other people with whom you have not been in isolation.
Face Masks should be worn IN ADDITION TO (not instead of) remaining at least 6 feet away from others. Wearing a face mask seems VERY EASY (and it is), but there are a few things that you should be aware of.
From what is currently known about this virus, it is very likely that it can be spread to others before a person even has symptoms. It is necessary to assume that anyone could have it who you might come in contact with. Also assume that you could be a carrier without any symptoms at all. Wearing a facemask helps to protect you and others who you come in contact with.
When you wear a facemask it should:
Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of your face covering your mouth and nose.
Be secured with ties or loops over your ears.
Use multiple layers of fabric.
Allow for comfortable breathing.
Be machine washable and dried without damage or change to the shape of it.
Before you put on a facemask, wash your hands for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol based hand sanitizer. Do not adjust your facemask or touch your face while you are wearing it. Do not touch the front of your mask when you remove it. Remove your face mask using the loops or ties only, wash your hands after you remove the mask, and wash the mask after each use,
Don’t use N95 masks or procedure masks which are needed in healthcare settings.
For more information on how to use facemasks or how to make your own cloth face masks, see the current CDC recommendations at:
