What's Happening at Avon...

New Trees

Your MyCards benefit dollars at work! Mr.H is pictured here planting a new Redbud tree on Avon's playground. Thanks to your support of the art program's Mycards benefit from this year and last year, the Green Team at Woodland School was able to buy some trees and shrubs for both Avon and Woodland school. You'll notice three new trees at Avon in the field. Woodland school also has three new trees. One in the front and two in the back of the school overlooking the ball field.

Dr. Jean Feldman has served as a primary classroom teacher and author for the past 40 years. On Monday, November 9th Mrs. Tregear and Mrs. Kupiec were inspired with her engaging songs and creative activities. As a result of their "field trip" they brought back many useful take-aways that help make teaching and learning fun.

50th Day of School!

Big image
On Thursday, November 19th the kindergarten classes started a normal day of learning, but had a "rockin" afternoon. The 50th day of school had the students involved in a plethora of 50's theme activities. The students were counting, writing, representing the number 50 and of course doing the hand jive. The teachers and students also dressed the part. Everyone came to school in their 50's themed outfit and had a rockin' good time!

Friendly Letters

Big image
In celebration of Thanksgiving this year, Mrs. Ryan and Miss Sharp’s second grade class took some time to write friendly letters to the residents at the Marcella Center in Burlington Township. The class has been working hard to learn the format and how to write a proper friendly letter. They decided to spread some holiday cheer by not only writing a friendly letter to the senior citizens, but also by completing a Thanksgiving day booklet informing the Marcella residents of how the students spend their holiday! Here they are smiling proud with the final products right before they were sent out to the residents!
