tough child to an admirable adult
What is a hero?
According to dictionary.com a hero is a man/woman of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities; however, it is so much more than that. A hero is someone who helps those around them to achieve what they have never thought they could pushing themselves to better others. A hero is someone who puts there own body mind or standing in society on the line to better the lives of others. A hero is someone who people or a single person can look up to as both a role model and what they wish to become. At its core, a hero is someone who puts there own body mind or standing in society on the line to better the lives of others.
A hero is a soldier who runs into the line of fire to save his unit. Imagine the intense loyalty they must feel to risk his life for others. Consider the bravery it takes to forfeit your life for the lives of others. How many people in this world can truly risk themselves for others? A soldier willing to forfeit his life for the good of the unit is someone who should be looked up for. It is the purest form of selflessness as they have no care for their own lives in the moment only for those around them. They take the job of protecting our country, a job that not many would accept. Putting others life in front of your own, that is pure heroism.
A hero is a teacher who protects their students even at the risk of there own life. Imagine there is a intruder, his eyes gleam with murderous intent. The teacher realizes this and closes the students in the closet willing to risks there own life to save the students. The teacher is injured but buys enough time to capture the intruder and prevent casualties. Feel the sense of commitment and selflessness that comes with putting someone else's life or a group of people's life above your own. Once again the heroism that comes with this ideal that everyone can look up to and cherish those who show this. People believe in these people because they are what we recognize as a hero.
As you can clearly see, both the teacher and the soldier show extreme heroism in their bravery and their selflessness. Everyone has the ability the ability to demonstrate these traits, but those who demonstrate them should be revered as heroes. Not many are able to put their own lives at risk to save the lives of those around you. Think about this, would you be able to do such a thing to protect the lives of those around you? A hero could be anyone, will it be you?
While all of these pictures connect to his loves, hunting, fishing, and the U.P, where he grew up; however they all connect to one thing. That thing is his love of the outdoors. It has been with him all his life. When he was young he spent the majority of his time outdoors.

untouchable hero essay
A hero is someone who helps those around them to achieve what they have never thought they could pushing themselves to better others. A hero is someone who puts there own body mind or standing in society on the line to better the lives of others. A hero is someone everyone can look up to as both a role model and a goal in life. A man who truly embodied these qualities came to this earth in the form of Dennis Weichel. Weichel always wanted to serve and he did so in 2001. Those around him knew him as incredibly selfless and kind to all and this was revealed to the world in March of 2012 when he sacrificed himself to save the life of a young boy he had never met before. Dennis Weichel fits the role of a hero through his selflessness, leadership, and bravery.
Dennis Weichel is a true hero because of his selflessness, and the qualities that allow others to look up to him. He thought not of the danger to himself but the pain for others that he could avert. In the text it states, “As one child attempted to retrieve an item from underneath a U.S. Army mine-resistant, ambush-protected vehicle, known as an MRAP, Weichel moved her to safety and was struck by the MRAP in the process.” this ultimately proves him as a hero as it obviously shows how he thought not of himself in the moment of action, but ultimately for the ones around him when lives were on the line. this is incredibly important as it shows selflessness to a point. According to dictionary.com, the definitions of selflessness is having little or no concern for oneself, especially with regard to fame, position, money, etc.; unselfish. He did not concern for himself in the greatest of all sacrifices, life. He is also a hero for giving people around him a hero to look up to. This is important as you often mimic the people you aspire to be like, and if the masses were to hold even a degree of the selflessness and bravery that Dennis Weichel showed. He raised the view of the army as a whole at the time as well as saved an innocent boy's life. In ''What that soldier did in Kandahar was such a brutal act, no human could do what he did,'' the uncle said, referring to the accusations against Staff Sgt. Robert Bales in the Kandahar killings. The boy’s uncle, in an interview with Rod nordland stated,” This soldier, he looked at my nephew as a human being and endangered his life to save my nephew's life.'' This is incredibly important as with some support, through bravery, and sacrifice, moral all around the country was boosted. In conclusion he is shown to be a hero in the research due to both his selfless sacrifices and his inspiring behaviour.
Due to a drive to help others, my hero, my grandfather is very similar to Dennis Weichel. They have both served our country through the military albeit in different ways. They both have a selflessness that allowed them to do this and because of that they both deserve respect and recognition. On top of this they are role models. People around them look up to them. This is a very important aspect of a hero because heroes, at their core, are meant to inspire those around the to look up, and model their behavior after said heroes. Both Dennis Weichel and my grandfather exhibit traits that can be looked up to as heroes. In conclusion my personal hero and my untouchable hero both are heroes, due to their selfishness, grit, and ability to be looked up to.
I would like to think if my untouchable hero had the ability to meet my personal hero they could connect, due to experiences that they have both had. Although their age gap is massive I feel that they would be able to connect on a personal level. Through research and connection a great deal can be learned from Dennis Weichel. You could talk about his social skills or his immense bravery, but most of all you can look up to his selfishness. In conclusion, Dennis Weichel is a hero, a man to look up to, and a death that we should mourn.
