LSR7 Parents as Teachers
A free and voluntary program, the Lee’s Summit R-7 Parents As Teachers program serves families with children prenatal through Pre-k. Currently, there are 26 certified parent educators working directly with Lee’s Summit parents to provide home visits, developmental screenings, family resources and parent group connections.
2022-2023 Home Visits
Welcome, or welcome back, to all our new and established families! We are excited to begin another year of home visiting in LSR7! As parent educators are returning, you will start to receive correspondence for scheduling a home visit. Be sure to check your texts, emails, and voicemails and let your parent educator know of any changes (moves, babies, etc.).
Our goal this year is to serve as many families in person, when possible, but know that might not always be an option. We will continue to offer virtual visits as well as phone visits (on an as needed basis). Please be sure to communicate with your parent educator on which method works best for your family.
ABC Q-Tip Painting Working on those ABC's? Write the letters of the alphabet on a piece of large paper (grocery paper bags cut open work really well) and have your child trace the letters using Q-Tips and paint! | Sunscreen painting Want your kids to see how important sunscreen is? Check out this fun activity--all you need is sunscreen, a paint brush, and dark colored paper (black is best, but any dark color will work). Have your child paint a picture using the sunscreen as paint, leave it out in the sun for a couple hours in direct sunlight (be sure to anchor it will rocks or something else), and check back! The picture will be the same color, but the rest of the paper should have faded in color due to UV rays. | Build with blocks Simple but classic. Let your child play with blocks and see all the amazing creations their little imaginations can come up with! |

3 months-3 years developmental screenings
Screenings for children aged 3 months to 3 years are screened in the home by the parent educator. Please schedule this with your parent educator following your first visit.

CDC Updated Milestones
The CDC has recently updated their milestones and have created a tracking app to make it easier than ever to track your child's milestones. If you are interested in learning more, click the link below. We will continue to provide age-appropriate activities and information on milestones during our home visits, but this would be a great addition for information in between home visits or general inquiry. If you have any questions, please let your parent educator know.
