BEAU CHENE HIGH SCHOOL

Congratulations to the Beau Chene Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Chapter. They have qualified for national competition in the areas of Early Childhood, Nutrition & Foods, Culinary Math, Science in FACS, and Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation.
FCCLA members (6 students and one advisor) from Beau Chene will be in competition during the National FCCLA Cluster Meeting and Conference in Louisville, Kentucky from November 9-11, 2018.

CENTRAL MIDDLE

Chief of Police Randy Fontenot visited Ava Grace Brown at Central Middle School. Chief Fontenot met Ava at a school meeting, where she asked if he would come to Central Middle to speak with the children. After he met her, he saw her picture in the newspaper and decided to write her a letter to accompany a copy of the picture and deliver them to her personally at CMS.

EUNICE ELEMENTARY

EUNICE HIGH SCHOOL

Eunice High hosted the Louisiana State FFA Officer Team on August 16, 2018. The State FFA Officers lead many FFA members on identifying everyday heroes, writing a short positive statement to a classmate in need of encouragement, and a game of listening to instructions while being blindfolded. The Louisiana FFA Goodwill Tour occurs every year by the Louisiana FFA State Officers to promote premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agriculture Education.

During the summer, the EHS student council took time out of their break to paint murals around their school. Three different murals were painted, and the senators plan on paining at least two more this school year.

Krotz Springs Elementary held Parent Orientation on 8/16 for 5th – 8th grade from 4:00 – 5:00. Parents received treats upon arrival, viewed/purchased KSE Spirit wear, paid registration fees, learned about programs/school info presented by KSE staff, given an opportunity to meet their child(s) teachers and address any concerns they had. *As in incentive, all students received a FREE Jean Day ticket if their parent attended orientation.

The first-grade parents were invited on August 22, 2018, to attend a Parent Orientation at Northeast Elementary. They were introduced to school and classroom policies. They had a Q & A session on curriculum content from Journeys and Zearn. The parents also created a Journeys Make & Take for Lesson 2.

Port Barre High School's Band held a roadblock fundraiser that took place Saturday, August 18, 2018 in the Town of Port Barre, Louisiana. They had an extremely successful fundraiser endeavor. Special thanks goes out the the Port Barre High School Alumni Association, President Rusty Higdon, who presented the Band Director Dante Boyd a donation for $500.

Dr. Therese Ellender, St. Landry Parish School Board Supervisor of STEAM, has facilitated the acquisition of Level 1 WellSpot status for our district! Nick Rees, WellSpot Designation Program Coordinator for the Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion at the Office of Public Health - Louisiana Department of Health, has asked her to share her success story in their Well-Ahead newsletter.
