3rd & 4th Grades
Week of October 17
Friday ART
Thank you to Mrs. Lisa Hepfer who has volunteered to teach Art to 4 classes. 1st - 4th Grade have Art classes on Friday.
The children have learned to 'frame' their pictures and here are practicing the art of Imagination. Look at the picture and see what is happening - even with part of the picture is missing.
What part is missing?
Let your imagination complete the picture
Do you know what is missing?

Hawkenings for this week
ITBS
The week is focused on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills. Teachers in grades 3-8 will be administering the ITBS this week.
Mrs. Nolting and I will give our group the test. We will do short switch overs in the afternoon so the children will not miss out completely whether it be in English or Spanish.
Minimal homework may be given. We just ask that the children get enough rest and come to school on time.
Religion
We will still have mass this week and 3rd Grade is coordinating it this time. The readings will be done in English. They will get a chance to do it in Spanish during the month of December. Please join us if you can this Thursday, Oct. 20 at 9:00 AM.
Mrs. Nolting and I have decided that we will still switch in the afternoon so that each grade will not miss out completely from Spanish. So I will continue with Bible stories and a Unit Review from their Religion textbook.
Language Arts
Both Grades, 3rd and 4th now have their own paperback novels to read.
4 - Fourth Grade Rats by Jerry Spinelli
3 - Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
They may bring the books home, but they must remember to bring it back for read aloud.
Both groups are enjoying their books and I hope this will really inspire them to want to read more complete paperbacks on their own.
P. E. and Music classes will continue as usual - we have worked out a schedule so that the children will not miss out on these classes during ITBS.
As a matter of fact, please keep Wednesday, November 9 at 1:30 in the afternoon open to attend our Veteran's Day program where we honor all Vets from all branches. If you have any family member who was or is in the military we would love to share their pictures and say Thank you to them. Please send in a picture, preferably in uniform so we may post their picture.
A big thank-you to those who came to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of Holy Rosary Church. I am sure that Bishop Eusebio was very impressed. And did you say hi to Father Maurer?
