The Weekly Update, Term 1, Week 11
Our Year 8 students led a poignant assembly on Monday for Remembrance Day. We believe that this is an important day in our calendar because we believe that in celebrating and talking about why we celebrate Remembrance Day, we teach our younger generation about the significance of history and the importance of cherishing peace. It is an opportunity to educate and inspire, to foster a sense of gratitude, empathy, and respect for those who served and continue to serve. Writing this reminded me of the reasons we remember; we remember to mourn; we remember to love; we remember to recognise the sacrifices made for our future. Remembrance day is a time to think about our past and pave our way to the future.
Lest we forget,
Kennedy House Sporting Facilities
Please acknowledge and respect the opening hours and times that members may use our facilities. The pool and tennis courts are CLOSED TO EVERYONE on a Saturday afternoon, all day Sunday and all public holidays.
Collection Times for our After-School swimmers
Collection is between 16h30-1645, from either the pool or the coffee shop. Please be on time. It is grossly unfair on Mr Clark and other teachers to still be on duty well past 5.30pm every day. Please respect the collection times and inform your drivers of the same. I am very disheartened by so many late collections so regularly.
Uniform Payments
Please be informed on our policy of payment for school uniforms. Payment must be made before collection of uniform items. If you are unable to pay with Mpesa/mobile money or cash then you are welcome to come in and order the uniform and we will issue an invoice for you to pay via bank transfer but you may only collect the uniform AFTER we have received your payment. We have far too many outstanding uniform invoices, so please do comply.
2024-2025 school calendar
Please take a look at the school calendar for next year (August 2024 - July 2025). There has been an adjustment made to the start of the term 1 in August, please see below for further details.
quiz night
Mr Clark and Mr Woolgar will be running a quiz after the carols at the Christmas Bazaar. Please register your team for what promises to be a very fun night (with some challenging questions!)
help with the bazaar
I am reaching out to any parents who may be able to offer a small amount of time at the bazaar for just one hour to help take entries at the gate into the school. This will be done in partners and any support would be much appreciated! Also, any parents who consider themselves as good bar tenders...we'd love some help behind the bar. However, this is a less desirable job and a lot of time, so we completely understand if we have no takers for this!
Christmas Carols
Our school choir will lead some Christmas carols for all visitors to join in at 6pm at the bazaar.
