Descanso Elementary Friday Focus

Family Edition Vol. 20 Jan. 10

Great Kindness Challenge

We will be participating in The Great Kindness Challenge the week of January 27-31

Important School Information

Tea with the Principal: Join me on Friday, Jan. 17th at 9:10am to discuss ideas and opportunities for our school. We have coffee, tea and treats while we brainstorm ways to make our school a better place.

Impact Aid Survey: It is important to return the survey whether you live on public land or not. If you did not turn it in by the 10th, you can still return it on Monday the 13th.

Academic and Social Emotional Interventions: On Monday our Everyone a Reader tutors will start reading with students in grades 1st-3rd who could use a little extra reading help. If your child was selected, you will receive a permission slip on Monday.

In addition to our school counselor, Mrs. Ippolito, we are fortunate to have a youth and family advocate from the Southern Indian Health Council. Her name is Juliana Knaup and she will be at our school every Friday. Students who were identified as needing study skills or behavior support and were referred to Mrs. Ippolito may also work in a small group with Juliana. She started meeting with groups today and sent home a permission slip. If you approve and your child would like to continue with her group, please sign and return the slip by Friday, Jan. 17.
