Hieroglyphics: Hieroglyphics is the first writing ever used by the Ancient Egyptians. It was invented about 3,500 BC, that is, 5,500 years ago. The word hieroglyphics means "sacred writing." Hieroglyphics are important because it is an amazing writing and because it is history.
Cuneiform: Cuneiform was invented about 5000 years ago, by Ancient Sumerians. The word Cuneiform means "wedge" Cuneiform writing was written on clay, stone, metal, and wax. Cuneiform is one of the most important writings discovered by man. Writing enables people to keep records, codify laws, and transmit knowledge from one generation to another.
Similarities: Cuneiform and Hieroglyphics are both ancient writings. Hieroglyphics and Cuneiform were both written on clay. They are both pictographs.
Differences: Cuneiform and Hieroglyphics are different because Hieroglyphics was only used in Ancient Egypt, while Cuneiform was founded by Sumerians and was spread throughout the world. Cuneiform is more symbols and Hieroglyphics is more pictures.
