Email Ms. Opel (katherine_opel@rdale.org) with any additional questions. Current NHS members do NOT need to reapply.
AHS Productions
This year, Armstrong Speaks and Armstrong TV partnered up to become one amazing, student-led media conglomerate, aptly dubbed Armstrong Productions. In addition to the club, which meets Monday mornings in 270, we are excited to announce that Armstrong Productions is now operating as a class. The course, TV & Audio/Video Production I, runs all year during 7th hour and is taught by H. Miller in 270. Our goal is to give more students the opportunity to participate as all voices are important and everyone has the right to have that voice heard. While we are still in our infancy, we have some amazing leaders who have graciously stepped up. Our Podcast, Armstrong Speaks, is lead by Aya Ouazizi (12), JoJo (Jolindah) Missoh (12), and Amina (Sarah) Adan (12), while Loren Meinert (12) and Sophia Merrill(12) lead Armstrong TV. The podcast will take on a more serious role as students have requested to make episodes that feature hard-hitting questions that make people think and challenge the “status quo”. Per student request, we will aim to keep the TV show lighthearted and comedic to balance the earnestness of the podcast. Our goal is to create and distribute regular Podcast and TV episodes so that the Armstrong Community (and their family) have something to enjoy and look forward to. We are so excited to be on this journey with you… we cannot wait to hear what you think! While you wait for episodes to drop, consider following us on Social Media.

Do you still need to purchase your Device Protection Plan?
Families still have the option to purchase a Device Protection Plan (DPP) for each of your students. The plan covers accidental damage or loss of the district Chromebook or iPad checked out to students. The cost of the plan is $25, or $5 for those students who qualify for Educational Benefits.
Without the plan, your student will be responsible for the cost of any damage to, or loss of, the district device checked out to them. The cost could be up to $150 per incident. Below are the costs for damaged and missing devices, with and without a DPP. For more information please visit rdale.org/discover/technology .
Damage Deductible First occurrence (per school year): with device protection plan - no cost; without device protection plan - $60. Second occurrence (per school year): with device protection plan - $25 (each); without device protection plan - $60 (each). Please note: intentional damage is not covered by the device protection plan. Full repair or replacement costs may be assessed to the student. Theft or Loss Deductible Theft with a police report (per occurrence school year): with device protection plan - $50 (each); without device protection plan - $100 (each). Loss due to negligence (per occurrence per school year): with device protection plan - $100 (each); without device protection plan - $150 (each).
Parents or students can purchase the DPP through the Campus School Store. If a student qualifies for Educational Benefits, the price of the DPP will be automatically adjusted. Online applications for Educational Benefits are processed daily; please allow 10 business days to process paper applications prior to purchasing a DPP.

October is Let’s Talk Month!
Parents want the best for their children and teens. That means helping them with homework, encouraging their hobbies, and … talking about sex and relationships! During Let’s Talk Month each year, young people and parents are encouraged to communicate with one another about sexuality. -Planned Parenthood
The Annex Teen Clinic wants to provide parenting adults, caregivers, and trusted adults with two opportunities to grow their understanding of how to have conversations with the young people in their life around sexuality!
About the virtual workshops: Please note these workshops are identical.
Research shows that parents and caregivers have the most influence on their child/children during early adolescence. This is a perfect opportunity to have conversations with your child around sensitive topics like sexuality, sex, and relationships. During this workshop, you will grow your knowledge about sexuality, learn tips and tricks to having these conversations with your child/children, and expand your confidence in engaging in these important topics with your teen.
After you attend a workshop, you will receive a family fun box! The family fun box was curated by Annex Teen Clinic parent educators to promote open communication and connectedness with parents and their teens.
