Kindergarten Newsletter

This Week

This week we are beginning a month long unit on insects! On Monday, we had a praying mantis pod arrive! We will be watching the pod over the next several weeks while we wait for the praying mantis to hatch from its foamy shell. We will be reading books and writing about insects. In math we will be practicing addition, subtraction and story problems.

Thank you, to everyone that has turned in the permission slip to the zoo. If you have not turned in your child's slip please do so as soon as possible.

Sixth grade is working with the American Red Cross to help people in crisis. They are looking for toiletries, toys, gently used clothes and fleece, to make blankets.

Walking Field Trip to City Hall

Next Tuesday, April 12th, the kindergarten classes will be walking to City Hall in the morning to help plant a pinwheel garden. A permission slip will be sent home tomorrow with the students.

Columbus Recycling Center Field Trip

Through the wind and rain we had a wonderful time at the recycling center! The kiddos had a great time learning about all the different items they can recycle. They also really enjoyed seeing the big machines used to begin the recycling process at the center. Thank you, to all the volunteers that were able to come out and help chaperone the field trip!

Memory Words of the Week

To help our kiddos learn memory words we have added this section to the newsletter. Each week we will put two memory words for your kiddo to practice at home. The memory words featured in this section will also be the memory words we are practicing in class. We will also do our best to give you ideas in which you can practice the words at home. Please feel free to mark the memory word practice from this section on your child's Homework Menu. If your child is has mastered the memory words of the week feel free to pick a different word off of the BCSC memory word list.
