Nikola Tesla
3 Facts
Radio
Tesla created what can be called a basic design for radio as early as 1982. He conducted the first radio wave experiments in The Gerlach Hotel in New York City, later renamed to "The Radio Wave Building"
Robot Boat
In November of 1898, Tesla patented a radio controlled 'robot-boat.' It demonstrated how radio waves could be possibly used. Witnesses of the experiment claimed that magic, telepathy, or a trained monkey inside was controlling the boat
Father of Radio
Although creating the concept and the first prototype for radio communication, Tesla did not receive the patent to radio. Marconi is often referred to as the 'father of radio' but his work was based on Tesla's previous discoveries. When questioned how he felt about Marconi winning the Nobel Prize in Physics for radio, Tesla simply responded with "Marconi is a good fellow. Let him continue. He is using seventeen of my patents."
