Letters of Recommendations

Students applying to private colleges may need a letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor. All recommendation requests must be made through Scoir, NOT the Common App.

In order to attend a Granada College Rep Visit, students must do the following:

  • Sign up in Scoir
  • On the day/period of the visit, students MUST check in with their teacher.
  • If the teacher allows students to attend, teachers will provide students with a College Office Event (green) summons.
  • When attending a college rep visit, students MUST scan their ID and sign in.
  • Students not registered for visits in Scoir will be sent back to class.
  • Always be respectful during visits. You are speaking to the representative that will likely review your application.

Aim High Flight Academy Summer Program

Aim High Flight Academy Summer Program: Attend a three weeklong summer aviation program by sponsoring universities around the country. Receive classroom instruction, simulator experience, and 15 hours of powered flight instruction with the opportunity to solo in a general aviation aircraft. Students will receive room and board, meals, and mentorship by aviation pilots both civilian and military. By the end for the program, students will gain a better understanding of the role aviation plays in society, and the pathways to become a civilian or military aviator. There is NO military commitment if selected for this program! It is simply to inspire youth into aviation careers.

Emory LEADs Experience

The Emory LEADs Experience is designed to support the recruitment of talented, high-achieving high school seniors who are either first-generation college students and/or from underrepresented cultural or socioeconomic backgrounds, including, but not limited to, Black/African American, Latinx/Hispanic, and Native/Indigenous student populations.

Oberlin Overnight

Oberlin Overnight is a selective campus visit program for high-achieving high school seniors interested in the College of Arts and Sciences. Selected students will receive exclusive opportunities to get a firsthand view of campus life through an overnight stay with a current Oberlin student. Participants will attend classes, tour campus, and participate in themed programming.

Brandeis - Students Exploring and Embracing Diversity (SEED)

SEED will take place on Brandeis's campus from October 20-21, providing an opportunity for prospective students to engage in topics of diversity, intersectional dialogue, attend faculty lectures and participate in a mock admissions case study. One parent/guardian will join the student on-campus for SEED.

Experience Colorado College

Over the weekend, you'll see campus through the eyes of a Tiger — learning through the Block Plan, discovering community and campus life, and engaging in honest conversation about building an conscientious student body. Home at Hamilton

Home at Hamilton will take place from Sunday, October 22 - Monday, October 23, 2023. Home at Hamilton is a two-day campus experience designed for high-achieving high school seniors in the U.S. and Puerto Rico who could not otherwise afford to visit Hamilton. Admission to the program is selective, and students who have not already visited campus and are first-generation to college or from families with limited financial resources will be given preference.

Dialogue with Denison

Dialogue with Denison (DWD) is an immersive, fully-funded fly-in program where a select group of high school seniors will meet to discuss important topics with Denison student leaders, learn about academic programs, explore student life, and visit organizational spaces.

Explore - Connecticut College

Each fall, we host Explore, a special program for high school seniors who are BIPOC, first-generation college students, and/or students with commitment to social justice and diversity. During Explore, you'll meet current students, faculty and staff who can share what it's like to be a student of color at Conn and all the resources that are available on campus that make our community strong.

Planet Fitness High School Summer Pass

Women of Distinction Program

Intended for high school seniors, this annual event will highlight opportunities offered by Smith College for African American, Asian American, Latin American, Native American, and first generation college students. Housing, meals, and transportation to and from campus are included. Participants will have the chance to connect with current Smith students, faculty, and other community members. Additional programming will include a series of panels and workshops on academics and student life.

Youth F.I.R.E Program (Fire Instruction Recruitment & Education)

The Youth F.I.R.E. Program (YFP) is offered to youth, ages 14-18 years old and is conducted in the Spring and Fall at three different locations. They are each eight Saturdays in duration and have four levels of advancement. YFP provides the students with the technical competencies in the fire service, while developing their communication, physical fitness, leadership, and life skills through LAFD mentors as positive role models.

Lifeguard Ready Training Program (LRT)

LRT is a free training program through the Department of Parks and Recreation, aimed at providing an inclusive education and training program to youth ages 16-24 focused on the fundamental skills necessary to become a LA County Swimming Pool Lifeguard. The training is intended to build water competency for candidates to develop the ability to meet the swim test time standards.

Because of this, most colleges offer campus tours, information sessions, or open house events to showcase academic and social life. Keller Williams offers a digital, pre-licensing curriculum geared toward placing aspiring agents on a direct path to licensure and profitability. Community Health Youth Advocates (CHYA)

CHYA is a year-long, multilayered academic program designed for high school students. Our scholars are educated on the healthcare landscape, exposed to local and global health disparities, and empowered to pave their own path toward a degree and career in the healthcare field. As a part of this program, students will work collaboratively within groups to complete a Capstone project and will be placed at a local community-based organization/clinic during the Summer 2024 session to complete a 40-hour internship.
