Spring Flings and Easter Things
We began our nature unit, with a special focus on Easter this week. We matched letters on large eggs, cut out paper eggs and decorated them with stickers, counted bunnies with 1:1 correspondence, talked about same and different designs, and used small baskets to catch little chicks and bunnies as they sprung up off the table! Other activities included making paper plate suns and doing crayon rubbings on different textures. During outside structured time, Ms. Ashley led Simon Says and then we did the limbo while listening to the "Limbo Rock!" With our friends from Rm 15 and Rm 4, we built Mr. Potato Heads, pretended to have picnics, and watered our flowers in the garden in the dramatic play area. We also had several whole-school Spring Fling practices!
In P.E., we worked on fitness and bilateral coordination by practicing stair climbing (ascending and descending) and pedaling trikes following a track. In speech rotations, we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and identified various aspects of nature throughout the story (e.g., sun, moon, leaf). We also played a fishing game and used our language to describe what was happening in the pictures (e.g., "She is smelling flowers," "He is jumping on the grass.").
On Thursday, we had an egg hunt with Ms. Julie's class. We followed clues hidden in colored eggs all across campus until we ended up on the baseball diamond and found a basket full of bubbles! We also had a new student start in our class this week - welcome, Silas!
