Dear Families,

Welcome Back and Happy New Year! We finished off our first week in 2022 successfully. Students and staff were excited to see each other and engage in teaching and learning!

On Tuesday, 1/4/22, our teachers participated in professional development. The morning was used to learn about identifying practices and asset-based structures that lift the rich cultural backgrounds of our community and elevate student voices while creating a warm and welcoming environment. Teachers also focused on signature teaching strategies for our English Learners. The afternoon was spent on mathematics. Teachers worked with our district math coaches to score the MARS math assessments that our students took before the winter break. The MARS assessments are math performance tasks that provide a platform for teachers to promote discussion about student work and performance data. While all the professional development was held virtually, grade level teams worked together to learn, collaborate and expand their teaching knowledge.

Finally, while we continue to follow safety protocols at school, I understand your concern given the news headlines around Covid-19. I'm confident that with hand-washing/use of hand sanitizer, masking, deep-cleaning, and weekly testing, we will be able to work together to keep our students and staff safe. Thank you for partnering with us and working together in following the health and safety protocols while at school and beyond.

Self Awareness

It involves understanding and managing our emotions, knowing how to manage stress, and being able to control our impulses. It includes the ability to notice any patterns we might see in how our actions or moods affect a situation.

Pool Testing

Our Pool Testing will resume next week. All staff and students with parent permission participate in Pool Testing every Monday.

The week of January 17th, we will do our Pool Testing on Wednesday, 1/19 since we don't have school that Monday.
