As We Approach the End of the Year ...
Our Movie Under the Stars event was amazing! It was great to have so many families and Burnette staff members enjoy a beautiful evening of candy, popcorn, books, and togetherness. I want to especially thank our PTA members who made this event possible - Michelle Davis, Anne Zielinski, Seema Kotadiya, Nettima Watson, Madelin Alvarez, Laura Pettus, and Wei Li.
It definitely feels like the last day of school is approaching! The weather is getting warmer, and the children are getting excited! So we need your help. We have a lot of fun events planned these last few weeks, but we need to make sure our students understand that they need to be on their best behavior at school. There is still a lot of important learning going on, and we need all of our students to be engaged and respectful to their teachers and peers. Please help support your child's teacher these last few weeks of school.
Just a reminder, if you plan on attending any of our end-of-the-year events this month, you will need to bring your ID to sign in. All visitors must be on a student's emergency contact list in order to enter the building. If you have a family member attending without you, and they are not an emergency contact, please send a note providing permission for them to visit your child.
I will be sending out my next newsletter in July. In that edition, I will be sharing any information you might need to prepare for the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year. I hope that you and your family have an amazing summer! If there is anything I can do to support you, please don't hesitate to reach out: 678-546-2170, sally.lehmann@gcpsk12.org.
Your Proud Principal,
Dr. Sally Lehmann

End of the Year 5th Grade events
The time has come! Our 5th graders are preparing to leave Burnette and head to Middle School! To kick off their introduction to Hull Middle School, we’re having a Rising 6th Grader Park Date on Tuesday, 5/3, at EE Robinson Park starting at 5:30 PM! 5th graders from Burnette, Mason, and Parsons are invited to let loose and get to know each other. Feel free to bring a blanket, ball and snacks to enjoy! The sprinklers should be running too so the kids might want to throw a suit on under their clothes.
Then, we’re having our 5th Grade Award Ceremony and Finale on Tuesday, 5/24. Please see the schedule below. Note that parents are invited to attend the award ceremony and walk but the finale is for the students only.
Parents invited:
9:30-10:30: Award Ceremony - in the cafeteria
10:30-11:00: 5th Grade Walk - kids will ‘walk’ through the school while other grade levels line up outside their classroom to wish them well
Students only:
1:00-3:00: 5th Grade Finale – we’re having a party for the kids complete with ‘big kid’ inflatables like an obstacle course and soccer game, Kona Ice will be on-site, and we’ll have a photo booth set up where they can take pics with their friends!
If you have any questions, please reach out to Michelle at roomparent00@gmail.com. Thank you!
