We are so proud...
Congratulations to Jenna Withee! On Sunday, Jenna participated in the Howard County Young Authors' Reading Day at Barnes and Noble. She read aloud her winning poem titled "The Ocean's Magical Wonders." We are so proud of you Jenna!
Field Day is friday, May 4th
We are looking forward to a fun-filled day with our students. We are seeking donations of bottled water and collapsable canopies or large beach umbrellas (in the event of hot weather). If you are able and willing to contribute, please contact Jane Collins directly at jane_collins@hcpss.org. Below you can find a few reminders about what students can do in preparation for Field Day:
- Students are encouraged to bring 1 bottle of water with their name on the the bottle.
- Only sneakers/tennis shoes should be worn for safety purposes.
- Shorts or light weight pants are recommended.
- Sunscreen (pre-K-2 needs to be applied at home, grades 3-5 must be applied before coming out to field day).
- Feel free to bring a hat and sunglasses.

School Year Extended to June 19th - The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) will extend the 2017-2018 school year by two days to make up for inclement weather closings. The last day of school for students will now be Tuesday, June 19, 2018. Read more here.

- Hersheypark tickets were distributed this week. Park entry dates are printed on each ticket. This was a quick fundraiser for us and we would like to thank all of the families and staff who purchased tickets! We raised over $500!!! Have a great time at Hersheypark!!
- Now seeking interest for PTA Officers for the 2018-19 School Year! The goal of the nominating committee is to enlist the talents of as many LOES parents and family as possible. The nominating committee's responsibility is to is to consider all persons in a particular PTA position. All nominations should be received by May 2nd. PTA officer elections will take place at the General Meeting on May 9 at 7pm. Officer position descriptions can be found on Yammer and the PTA website at the PTA Membership & Leadership tab.

- One of our biggest fundraisers for the year, the Silent Auction, happens during the Spring Fair!
