Ross Round Up
Engage. Empower. Educate. Every Day.
October 5, 2022
Reminder: no school Thursday, Friday, or Monday. Monday is our staff Professional Development day. We'll be spending time as a staff learning how to be stronger Math teachers, among other things. For more information about what we're doing on Monday, check out the Ross website.
The last two weeks, some special things happened at Ross.
- Three of our amazing students took time on their way to school to pick up garbage and make the world a more beautiful place. Great job, Caden, William, and Kenna!
- One of our 4th graders really wanted to donate money for 5th graders who couldn't afford to buy a recorder. She worked with her family to get some money and then hand-delivered it to our music teacher. You should have seen her smile. Great job, Harmony!
Parents, you are raising such compassionate kids. Thank you for sharing them with us. Our October Ross value is Compassion. Kids are creating a gratitude tree in the cafeteria/gym this month and they can choose to set a Compassion goal next week and work towards it. Check out our Compassion poster below.
With love,
Principal Tripp
Upcoming Events at Ross
We're excited for these upcoming events that Ross, the Parent Advisory Committee, and the Indian Creek/Ross PTA are planning:
- October 13 from 11:00-12:30pm is our PTA Jog-a-Thon. We have some amazing prizes planned for kids (including a silly string fight with the principal) and it should be great fun! Work on getting sponsors this weekend. Forms are due back Tuesday, October 11. Do not send money yet--that will be after the Jog-a-Thon.
- October 14 during recess will be our first Monthly Popcorn Fridays. Popcorn costs $0.25 a bag (limit of two bags per kid). To volunteer, click this link. Big thanks for KJs and Parent Advisory Committee parents who are donating popcorn, oil, and bags and letting us use their popcorn machine. We are blessed with amazing parents!
- October 19-21 are Parent-Teacher Conference days. Teachers will be reaching out soon to schedule conferences with you. All three days are early release days at 1:30 so that we can start conferences at 2:00 each day. Our goal is to meet with every family and share what we're doing with our AVID program at Ross. Download the Kuna School District app prior to conferences so that we can get you set up on Blackboard Reach, our new school-wide communication tool!
Communication
- Blackboard Reach will be starting after Parent-Teacher Conferences. Watch for communication from Blackboard about this and download the app or, if you don't have a cell phone, visit reach.blackboard.com.
