Admirals Hockey Game & Reading

We had a blast with students on Wednesday at the Admirals hockey game. Many thanks to the parents who were able to come along and help chaperone. The Admirals field trip has become a tradition at Lakeview, and we are very thankful to the Admirals organization for continuing the partnership. The Admirals send a player to Lakeview about once per month to read to our students, talk about good reading habits, and answer questions about hockey. This event is truly a celebration of literacy and reading. We need families to continue to celebrate reading each and every day.

The news stories this week about celebrities paying millions to get their children into college makes me sad. Reading is free. The only investment is time: at least 30 minutes/day. At this point in the year, we can really see a difference between who is reading at home and who is not. But the good news is that it's never too late. The best college savings plan just might be 30 minutes/day of reading at home!

Lakeview Music Concert

The Lakeview Spring Concert is just around the corner! Make sure your family plans to attend this special event on March 19th at the South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center located in the high school. Students should arrive in the high school commons (cafeteria) at 6:15 to be dropped off with their classroom teacher and parents should be seated in the PAC by 6:30 ready to see a fabulous performance! Additional information about our concert can be found at smconcert2019.sdsm.k12.wi.us

Tardy update

Not a single student was tardy on our Admiral's field trip day. We can do this! Having an entire school on time every day is not a dream - we all just made it happen. Thank you! If you are driving up to school at 8:30, then your child is late. Students need to be on the playground before 8:30 a.m. every day.

4K Registration for 2019-2020 is open

Do you have a younger student who will be in 4K next year? Do you have a neighbor, friend, or family member that will be in 4K next year? Registration for South Milwaukee's 4K program is now open for the 2019-2020 school year. Here is a link to the flyer with information - feel free to share this link. The most important thing to do is register soon by completing the online information and then bringing the required documents to the school office.
