Middle School Athletics
Welcome to the 2022-2023 School year! I am eager to get started with our Diamond Canyon athletics program and get to know our new and returning athletes!
This year we will be focusing on growing our athlete’s GRIT. The definition of GRIT is as follows: Grit: (noun) Courage and resolve; strength of character. Our DVUSD athletics program is built upon the 6 pillars of character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Through our athletics program, our student athletes will be learning how to develop each pillar in order to strengthen their character both on and off the court/field.
We are also excited to announce a change to our seasons! We will be aligning with the Peoria and Dysart School Districts middle school athletics seasons. The seasons will be as follows:
FALL: 7/8 Grade Baseball and 7/8 Grade Softball
WINTER: 5-8 Grade Cross Country and 7/8 Grade Volleyball
SPRING: 7/8 Grade Basketball and 7/8 Grade Spiritline
All athletes must be cleared by me through the Register My Athlete site in order to TRY OUT for their sport. Baseball and Softball tryouts begin Tuesday 8/16, so be sure you’ve updated physicals with your child’s doctor and uploaded them to Register My Athlete before that date. Please refer to our DC Athletics website with info on how to start your RMA account and all forms needed. https://www.dvusd.org/domain/1495
Please reach out to me with any questions. It’s going to be an awesome year; let’s go COYOTES!

Device Protection Plan
DVUSD will be offering an Optional Device Protection Plan for families of 4th-8th graders utilizing take-home devices. Enrollment in the plan is optional with the understanding that if students/parents do not enroll in the protection plan they may carry full liability for the student device (iPad or Chromebook) in the same way they do for other damaged or lost school property, such as textbooks.
The fee for this protection is $25 per child/per school year.
Parents can purchase the protection plan online at https://url.dvusd.org/PaymentPortal. Instructions for using the payment portal can be found here. .
For students who damage or lose their district technology device, the deductible can be debited to the student's account in In-Touch and the parent can pay the fee online.
Diamond Canyon parking lot safety procedures
The safety of Diamond Canyon students and staff is a top priority!
Please take a moment to review our parking lot procedures below.
· Only park in parking spaces – do not turn off car or leave it unattended unless your vehicle is in a marked parking space.
· Turn off cell phones before pulling into the drop off lane so your full attention is on students.
· Always escort your children when walking in the parking lot.
· We have a tobacco free campus – therefore, do not smoke in your cars.
· Remember children observe the behaviors of adults around them, please be good role models.
· Handicapped parking spaces should only be used if you have a handicapped license plate or placard. Unauthorized vehicles are subject to ticketing and/or towing.
· Please only drop off and pick up your students along the curb between the main crosswalk / gate and the kindergarten crosswalk / gate.
· When in the drop off and pick up lane, pull your vehicle as far forward as possible to keep traffic flowing smoothly.
· If you are parking in the splash pad parking lot, please be sure to cross with our crossing guards along Liberty Bell Way and not through the DC parking lot.
