Force to be Reckoned With
The annual pumpkin races in sixth-grade science get everyone cheering for their classmates. Students take what they learn in physics about force, motion, and gravity and apply it to building a vehicle using a pumpkin and even a squash or zucchini as its ‘frame’. The goal is to see how far their vehicle will travel.

Daniel Wright Receives 'Commendable' Designation
The Illinois State Board of Education designated Daniel Wright 'Commendable' as part of its Annual Summative Designation. The Every Student Succeeds Act requires states to annually assess the performance of public elementary and secondary schools. These designations describe schools excelling across various academic and student success indicators.
Crossing Guard Update
Beginning Monday, Nov. 6, the crossing guard at Riverwoods Road and Yorkshire Drive will be reassigned to Daniel Wright leaving this intersection without someone to assist students with crossing. Beginning Monday, Nov. 27, all crossing guard positions will be suspended until after Spring Break.
Donate a Pie
The PTO would like to kick off the Thanksgiving season and indulge our D103 Staff with an assortment of pies! We are asking for your help in donating a pie on Friday, Nov. 3. It can be store bought or homemade!
Drop off will take place between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, at each school. Please label the pie with your name and the type of pie it is. Please use a disposable pie tin or something you otherwise do not want returned.
Please sign up on Membership Tookit and list the type of pie you will bring. Visit the Membership Toolkit if you prefer to make a financial donation, instead. Please contact Marybeth Lockwood with any questions.
Donate While You Dine
Support the Learning Fund Foundation at Culver's of Lincolnshire from Nov. 13-16. Name the foundation and Culver's will donate 25% of sales to the organization.
Power of Belonging
Join SACEE and Parent Ed virtually on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 7:00 p.m. to discuss how to create an environment where everyone can thrive and every student feels a sense of belonging.
This critical conversation will explore why a student’s sense of belonging is so important to their overall success and well-being and the role parents can play in supporting this most basic need. Our speaker Sabrina Rahman has helped the nation's top companies and government institutions build healthy, high performing organizational cultures.
After the presentation, Sabrina will be joined by Katie Reynolds, assistant superintendent and Kendra Perri, interim principal of Daniel Wright Junior High School, to field your questions about fostering belonging in our schools.
