HOMESTEAD HEROES
Winter Bucket Filling
Dear Parents,
Welcome to our second newsletter highlighting the service learning projects and bucket filling initiatives students and staff at Homestead have been involved in since January. Through these worthwhile initiatives, we learn how our efforts have an impact on others. As always, we thank you for your support and reinforcement of these important lessons.
Sincerely,
Dr. Suzanne Viscovich, Principal

Local politicians delivered them to the Veterans to celebrate their contributions. | ANIMAL SHELTER COLLECTIONMrs. Hoffman's class learned about goods and services and started a school-wide collection as a service for animals living in shelters. Generous Homesteaders donated old blankets and towels to help them feel safe. | UNIT FAIR SHARINGIn February, Homestead teachers displayed and presented the wonderful units each planned and executed in our STEAM and Social Studies Inquiries. Central Office Administrators and teachers from Hemlock, Locust, and Stratford were impressed by the diligence and creativity of the Homestead teachers and their students' engagement. |

KINDER-GARTEN BUCKET FILLING BOOKSFirst-grade Buddy Classes helped guide each Kindergarten class in writing their own Bucket Filler Class Books. For the second half of the school year, each kindergartener's page on how to be a bucket filler will be shared on the morning announcements just as the first grader's pages were. | PENNIES FOR PATIENTS COLLECTIONThroughout March and April, families collected loose change to benefit Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Our nurse, PTA Director, parents, staff, and students demonstrated generosity and kindness. | BUCKET FILLER GARDENThe daffodil bulbs each child planted in the winter are growing into a beautiful garden. This school-wide project was made possible through a grant from SEPTA with Mrs. Long where each child wrapped a promise of how he/she would fill a bucket around a bulb that is becoming a spring flower. Watch our garden bloom and our buckets fill! |
