Oakwood PTO

November 2018

A Message from Mr. Symank

Thank you to everyone that attended our Annual Fall Fest last week. We had a great crowd, and everyone seemed to enjoy the night. It’s always fun to see the students and their families at these events.

Our 2nd 6 Weeks will be ending on Friday, November 9. Report cards will be sent out the following week. Please remember that you can schedule a parent conference with your child’s teacher by either emailing them directly or calling the front office.

On Friday, November 9, we will be having our Veteran’s Day Ceremony across the street at AMCMS in their gymnasium. We are very excited for our orchestra, choir, and band students to perform and would like to invite you to come and watch their performance. Please note that our space will be limited, and we will ensure that all our students have a place to sit prior to reserving a section for our guests. In addition, parents will need to check in the front office at Oakwood prior to attending the ceremony. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this matter.

Our Thanksgiving Break will be from Monday, November 19 – November 23.

Picture retakes will be offered on Wednesday, November 28. We will send out a reminder with more information as we get closer to that date.

As always, thank you so much for the opportunity to work with your amazing children. We’ve had a great year thus far and are looking forward to the remainder of the fall semester.

* Daylight Savings Time is this Sunday, November 4. Be sure to roll back your clocks.

Sincerely,

Josh Symank

Principal - Oakwood

Are you ready for some football?

Oakwood's most valued fundraising comes from TAMU Game Day parking. Please help spread the word that Oakwood offers safe and convenient parking just down George Bush Drive for a $20 donation. 100% of proceeds benefit the student group or department volunteering and the PTO. Please stay tuned from staff or PTO members in need of volunteers. Thanks to all who help out this fall!

Thank you for turning in those Boxtops. We had 4837 Boxtops turned in. That's $122 for our school. The top winners recieved Popcorn party- Eagles, Popscicles-Falcons, & lollipops- Panthers. Keep the collecting going over the holiday so we can have a much bigger submission in Feburary.

Keep up with Oakwood PTO with texts and on Facebook

We are hoping to go more paperless in our communications. If it's important, we'll text you if you've signed up for remind with the PTO. See the picture below for how to receive texts through remind.com. We only send texts during polite hours.

We share even more info for parents through Facebook for the school here and for the PTO here. It is encouraged that parents toggle on "Get Notifications" on the top of our pages. Otherwise, many posts will not be included in your news feed without being boosted with an ad buy.
