Keeping Us Connected with Campus and PTA News
Some New Ways to Connect
As the quarantining, distance learning and 2020 woes drag on, we are looking for new ways to connect, create, engage and enrich. Please look for announcements and opportunities each week. This week we have our PTA meeting on Monday night, read in guest readers on Wednesday as well as a student social hour with Principal Eichert. On Friday, parents and caretakers are welcome to join in coffee and conversation. Links for all of these events are below. Looking forward to time together!

Permission to Try Something New
Another helpful tip from our school psychologist, Mrs. Ginsberg:
Give yourself permission to try something new. Set aside a few minutes each day for reflection and self-care. 10 minutes is a good place to start. Here are some suggestions based on experience and current research.
Questions to ask yourself (reflection) and some strategies to try (self-care):
What do you notice about this particular day? Just observe, no judgment. Write, sketch, talk out loud or think quietly. Notice, acknowledge, then let it go.
What are you grateful for today? Make a list. You may be grateful for small things – a hug from your child, a phone call from a friend, a sunny day, a favorite food; or larger – the people you love are healthy, you have a safe place to live.
Is there something you need to change/let go of/do more of today? Remind yourself to focus on what you can control.
Who can you reach out to today? How can you make someone else’s day better? Research shows that positive actions undo the effects of anxiety. They remind us that we have some control and help us feel more connected to others.
What can you do to take care of yourself today? Research has shown that 30 minutes of walking a day is as effective as prescription medication for relieving anxiety and depression. Cooking, crafts, music, gardening, meditation, quiet time with a book or magazine, are all good self-care.
