Dear Families:
Your student's packet is missing our weekly poem, "A Little Elf", I will send home a copy with them tomorrow (Thursday 9/24).
It has been a great week getting to know your kids better. Everyday we reveal a little more of our personalities to each other. We are off to a great start!
Homework:
- Homework goes home on Wednesdays. It is due the following Tuesday.
- Please return homework in the Blue Communication Folder (it helps keep it safe throughout the week)
- The homework packet includes a pacing guide and a place for parent or student comments. Please let me know how the homework is working for your family.
- Homework is reviewed for completion, and to check for understanding of concepts taught in class. Feel free to help your student and correct errors during the week.
Conferences:
Conferences are coming up the week of November 2nd. Please check our red bulletin board to sign up for a conference. If any of the dates and times do not work, we can schedule another meeting time.
Book Bags:
Leveled reading books will begin coming home next week on Wednesday, 9/30. A bag of 3-4 books and a reading log will go home every night and must be returned the next day. Book bags and reading logs will even go home on weekends! This week in class we will be learning how to fill out reading logs and how to take care of our books when we bring them home each day! First graders are required to read at least 15 minutes each night (you can always read more!) and record their reading in their reading log. Reading logs will be checked daily!
Volunteering:
Volunteering opportunities are still available! Please check our red bulletin board if you are interested! Many thanks to those who have already signed up! Volunteering will officially begin next Monday, Sept. 28th!
Walk-A-Thon:
The Walk-A-Thon is scheduled for October 17th. I do not yet know the time our class is walking. I will share more details of the day as they become available.
Thank you,
Susanne Reed
