Parkland Magnet Middle School

Attention 8th grade families! Believe it or not, it is already time for our 8th graders to think about high school. There are two important dates coming up for 8th grade students and families.

1. Wednesday, September 20, there will be a virtual session for families to learn more about the MCPS Regional and Countywide Programs.
2. Wednesday, September 27, there will be another virtual session specifically for families to learn more about the Downcounty Consortium schools which includes Wheaton, Kennedy, Einstein, Blair, and Northwood.

On Wednesday, students will continue with their second REACH for the Stars Lesson where students will continue learning about the REACH characteristics and how it can be displayed throughout the school day.

Kits to Heart provides thoughtfully designed, curated cancer care kits for patients and caregivers throughout the United States.

The Parkland Kits to Heart Club will meet one Tuesday a month from 7 pm to 8 pm during the monthly PTSA Community Meeting to create items for the Kits to Heart care packages. Each meeting students attend will be an opportunity to earn SSL hours.

MCTEF Tennis Club meets Tuesdays starting October 3rd – November 14th from 3:15 pm -4:15 pm at no cost to families. The club will have a maximum of 20 students.

Civil Air Patrol will be accepting new members for the upcoming school year. Interested families and students can meet First Lieutenant Richard Abbey at Thursday’s Back to School Night or by emailing him at RAbbey@md.cap.gov.
