Safety and Security Reminders
All school buildings in the Olathe School District follow strict security measures to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Parents and visitors must show Photo ID at the front door in order to gain access to the building. Even if our office staff know you well, they will still ask you to state your name and the purpose of your visit. Once inside, visitors must sign in and obtain a Visitor badge before heading to their destination. Thank you for making sure that you have a Photo ID with you when visiting our school!
Arrival and Dismissal Safety Reminders
For the safety of all students at Heartland and due to the high volume of buses and cars coming to this school building, we have established a designated area for dropping off and picking up students not riding the school bus.
PARENT PICK UP & DROP-OFF AREA: Located on the south side of the flagpole along the sidewalk painted yellow. This lane is for families who will be transporting their child to and from school.
For families that choose to utilize the parent pick up & drop off lane, please follow the procedures outlined below in order to keep the flow of traffic moving appropriately and safely: **Note: You must have your car sign to utilize this lane.
- There is no parking in this lane. If you need to speak to a teacher or other staff, we ask that you park in a parking space and enter the building.
- Please do not block the crosswalks or resident driveways.
- Please do not go around the vehicles in line ahead of you. Children may be entering or exiting their car.
- Unless instructed by a traffic control staff member, never back up in line. Please wait until the car in front has moved up and you can then proceed safely following the white arrows painted on the pavement throughout the parking lot.
- Please remember to be aware of others walking through the parking lot. Monitor your speed and always follow the flow of traffic marked with white arrows throughout the parking lot.
Thank you for all of your efforts and patience during the transition times and in making those times run smoothly and safely.
Olathe Family Day - September 23
