President's Message:

April is a busy month for MCES PTA. As you know, we are preparing for the 2016 Carnival and Boosterthon. If you have a few hours to spare, please consider volunteering for a shift to help out our planning committees. See information below on both activities.

I want to send a big shout out to our Boosterthon(Denise Salisbury, Amy Hallacher, Maranne O'Brien) and Carnival(Missy Balledyier & Allyson Arp) Chair and Co Chairs! You all are awesome and I greatly appreciate your help!

Can you believe it's time for the new Kindergarten Orientation? This year is flying by and we are getting ready to prepare the rising Kindergarten class at Kindergarten Orientation on April 28th, 2016. Please help me in welcoming the kids and their parents. We need 10-20 volunteers from 12-1:30pm to help out with the kids while the parents find out how cool and exciting it will be to have their kids at MCES. Spring Carnival

Please join us this Saturday, April 9th, 4-8 p.m. for our Spring Carnival. Enjoy an evening of food, games, and fun activities!

Silent Auction: We have some very exciting items in our silent auction this year, including camps, event tickets, restaurant gift cards, and Disneyworld passes.

Kids’ Basket Raffle: This is always a big hit. Purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a great basket of prizes for your child.

Teacher Raffle: NEW THIS YEAR! Your child can enter for a chance to have a fun and memorable experience with a teacher or staff member, such as mini-golf, pedicures, or a movie. This promises to be a lot of fun!

Book Swap: Remind your child to bring a used book to swap out for another one at our Book Swap table.

Cake Walk: If you are bringing a treat for our Cake Walk, we will be collecting them at the carpool drop-off and pick-up Friday, April 8th or you can bring from noon until 4 p.m. the the day of the carnival.

Tickets are $6 at the door for children under 5, $10 for children 5 and older (adults are free). Don’t forget to bring a little extra money if you wish to participate in the raffles or purchase food.

Thank you for your support of MCES activities, and we look forward to seeing you this weekend!

Nominating Committee Update

Volunteers are still needed for the 2016-17 school year.

Volunteering offers tangible ways to be part of things. Sometimes we might mean well, but our busy lives get in the way of committing. Joining MCES' PTA will provide concrete ways to get involved, whether at events, in the classroom, or on a committee.

Cultural Arts Co Chair
These events are co-sponsored by the PTA and the United Arts Council grant. The performances and presenters occur during the school day. There is a four year schedule to make sure that one track does not miss the same performance style. We already have a chair, but would like a co-chair.

Membership Chair and Co Chair
Need Chair and Co Chairs to increase PTA membership and maintain data base of members and volunteers. Will need to attend open houses. Position is done mainly at beginning of school year.

THE PEP RALLY for Tracks 1-2-3 is on APRIL 11th and for Track 4 on APRIL 20th. Please mark your calendars now for the FUN RUN DATES so you can come cheer on your student! All grades in Track 3 will run on APRIL 19th from 8:45-9:45.

Tracks 1-2-4 will run on APRIL 26th; grades 3-5 at 8:45-945 and K-2 at 9:55-10:55.

We are looking for some energetic VOLUNTEERS who would be willing to keep our kids hydrated and moving by handing out water during each race. It is FUN & EASY!! See below for the links to sign up! Thank you in advance for your support!!

Snack Support

The snack cupboard is beginning to run a little bare. If you are able to donate snacks, they would be much appreciated. These snacks are distributed by Mrs. Fillard, school counselor, to students that cannot regularly afford to supply their own daily snack. Thank you in advance!

Volunteers Needed for the School Store:

We are looking for school store volunteers for the 2015-2016 school year.

Tuesdays: K-2 kids welcome from 8:00-8:25am
Thursdays: 3-5 kids welcome from 8:00-8:25am

The school store sells little pencils, erasers, fun little school items for kids to purchase - prices range from $0.10 - $2.00, so kids can easily afford to buy something even with a little bit of pocket change. It is located at the end of the main hallway, adjacent to the 2nd grade hallway. Please contact Stephanie Petty,
