the hard work you already did. - Newt Gingrich
HOOT NEWS
HARD WORK:
Thank you for being such amazing professionals in the midst of challenging work! I am so proud of this campus and the way you are facing this move. I know we will have bumps along the way, but together we can do it! Your positive attitudes and growth mindset have truly amazed me and lifted me up when I have been feeling stressed. I am grateful to be part of this DOSS TEAM!
CLASS MAKING:
Thank you for your thoughtful approach to class making! This is a multi-step process and we will continue to refine the classes. I appreciate how hard you work at making sure that each student has the best fit possible. Thanks for your hard work on creating classes for the 2018-2019 school year.
STAFFING CHANGES:
We have a few staffing moves for the 2018-2019 year. Here's what we know at this time:
- Lisa Mowry is moving to Pre-K! She has already visited and observed Pre-K classes and is excited about this new position.
- Donna Johnson will be moving to 2nd grade.
- Vickie Engel will be retiring and working as our part-time counselor.
- Shanna Riggsbee will not be returning. We will miss her so much! We will be interviewing for a full-time counselor position in the coming weeks.
- Nan-Hee Crawford will be moving to full-time 4th grade.
- Stephanie Sweeney will be teaching 5th grade math/science part-time.
- We are losing an office clerk position due to funding. Kristen and Sherrise will now be working in the office only five hours a week each to support the office staff.
- Unfortunately, at this time I cannot hire Tracy Sheridan as our part-time Assistant Principal. I can't tell you how bummed we all are about this! There are many APs on the priority placement list and thus we will likely be assigned someone. Tracy will continue as our Math Interventionist!
EOY ISIP WINDOW:
FYI, we now have from May 1st until May 25th to complete ISIP EOY!
MATH OLYMPIAD:
Math Olympiad Groups will be postponed until after STAAR.
SAFETY PATROL FIELD TRIP:
Safety Patrol will be taking their end of year field trip to Gatti Town on Monday, May 21st from 10:00-1:00.
AESOP USAGE:
There are often a high number of absences at this time of the school year, especially on Fridays. Please attempt to prearrange substitutes! Finding subs at the last minute is difficult! As always, please contact Melinda or the Substitute Office with any questions.
