David's Law and Cavs Who Care
We would like to inform you about a new law intended to help students who may be the target of cyberbullying, as well as inform you about our efforts to improve and refine the district’s response to inappropriate student behaviors related to bullying, harassment or other harmful actions.
Effective September 1, 2017, Senate Bill 179, commonly known as “David’s Law,” expands the definition of “bullying” under the Texas Education Code and clarifies that the definition of bullying includes cyberbullying. The bill now gives the school the discretion to punish students for off-campus bullying that is delivered to school property or to the site of a school-sponsored or school-related activity; occurs on a publicly- or privately-owned school bus or vehicle being used to transport students; or is cyberbullying that interferes with a student’s educational opportunities or substantially disrupts the orderly operation of a classroom, school, or school-sponsored or school-related activity.
Please see attached letters/flyers for additional information on David's Law and our Cavs Who Care Tipline. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

October - Bullying Prevention Month
Our class meetings this month will focus on bullying prevention and showing kindness to others. As a campus, we will participate in Unity Day on October 25th. All students and staff should wear orange on this day, to show we are united against bullying!
You can also visit PACER's Website for stories, videos and resources to share with your kids at home.
Thanks for your support!
Great Things with Apex!
Apex is in full swing on our campus, and our only fall fundraiser is off to a great start! The PTO plans to use funds raised from the Fun Run for additional requested technology (Chromebooks and iPads) for the classrooms, a PE Field Trip for the school, tutoring for all grade levels and outside consulting for everyone. Outside consulting consists of different companies that will come to our campus and work with the kids on various things (like a mobile science unit, fun interactive lessons on bullying, etc). Apex not only conducts the fun run with inflatables, but they have been visiting with every class, taking a few minutes to teach positive leadership lessons. Pictures, videos, class contest winners, and info (like run times and sign-ups) are all posted on Facebook daily – make sure you follow the PTO. Search Bee Cave Elementary PTO (@bcepto) on Facebook to find them!
Thank you, Bobcats!
Morning Drop-Off
In addition, if you would like to help your kids put on backpacks, get lunches, give hugs, etc., we ask that you use the parking lot, then walk students to the crosswalk. The traffic can get really hectic in the mornings, and we do our best not to have the drop-off line back up too much.
We count on our parents to assist us with making sure all are safe, and drop-off is as efficient as possible. We appreciate you!
