For grades 3-6 MCAS dates will be set soon for April and May of 2021, stay tuned. This year's testing will not be as comprehensive as it has in the past as described by the state... "The Department will significantly reduce testing time for students in grades 3-8 through a session sampling approach, in which each student will take only a portion of each MCAS assessment in each subject. This modified MCAS administration will preserve the validity and reliability of the test at the school, district, and state levels. When combined with other data points, this approach will provide meaningful diagnostic data at the individual student level."

Nurse Notes
Mass DPH is no longer requiring students in PK-12 to receive the flu vaccine. If you have documentation, you are welcome to send it to the Health Office; however, it is NO LONGER a requirement. It is still recommended that everyone ages 6 months and over gets a flu vaccine this season unless contraindicated.
A student that has been identified as a close contact of a COVID-19 positive individual must stay home unless going to a medical appointment. It is strongly recommended that a close contact be PCR tested on day 5 or later from last exposure to a COVID-19 positive individual. Please notify your school nurse of the PCR result. A close contact may return to school after receiving a negative result, completing 10 days of quarantine at home, and continuing to monitor symptoms every day for the full 14 days OR close contacts may opt to do a full 14-day quarantine at home. If symptoms develop within 14 days, close contacts must isolate themselves at home regardless of the test result. Please reach out to your school nurse to make sure your child has completed all aspects of quarantine BEFORE sending them back to school.
If a student travels, please remember to follow the MA COVID-19 Travel Order regarding quarantine and/or testing for COVID after traveling to all states, except Hawaii. Even visits to our neighboring states in New England fall under the new guidelines. Yes, that includes New Hampshire and Maine.
All visitors entering Massachusetts, including returning residents, who do not meet an exemption, are required to:
Complete the Massachusetts Travel Form prior to arrival, unless you are visiting from a lower-risk state designated by the Department of Public Health.
Quarantine for 10 days at home OR produce a negative PCR molecular COVID-19 test result that has been administered up to 72-hours prior to your arrival in Massachusetts.
If your COVID-19 test result has not been received prior to arrival, visitors and residents must quarantine until they receive a negative test result. Testing for children, 10 years and younger, who are traveling with an adult from their household is not required if the parent was tested and their result was negative. If parents opt to quarantine for 10 days, children have to do so as well. If the child is 11 or older, then the child needs to be tested or will need to quarantine for 10 days, unless an exemption criterion applies. If you have any questions or need clarification on travel circumstances, please contact your school nurse."
